| Andrew Bird – Armchairs Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| Guys, guys, guys - you are interpretting the "crooked bow" part all wrong! Not to be arrogant, but he's not talking about a bow and arrow - he's talking about a bow that you tie on a present or a dress. Like a bow you'd wear. You always try to make the bow EVEN so it looks symmetric. A crooked bow is one that isn't perfect, it's off-center, it's not what you want it to be. I'll let you decide what "time's a crooked bow" means in light of that... | |

i think these explanations may be overcomplicating it Maybe I am just gross but I think this song is erotic. That's why he mentions being horny. What does 'painting an elephant' mean? Well, think about it. An elephant's got a long trunk. Painting something means slathering wet stuff over it. I think it means oral sex. It means she doesn't give as good BJs. |

i agree with kissme on this one, it's about more than relationships it's a similar situation in a lot of things we get involved in things that seem good for a while but then they take so much time to become detached from again. and the token phrase is "well, that's life" |

| The Format – Oceans Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| this song is about how he misses someone who left Arizona (where Nate is from) to go to California. He wants to follow her. She is "somewhere in the sand" (the beach) "dancing with the stars" (Hollywood), he "wants to be an ocean" (the pacific) so he can see her again. New Mexico is his moat that he can't seem to cross (yeah, it's not DIRECTLY between AZ and CA, but it's poetic license). "The golden state wins again" (California). Finally, he considers leaving and says "it's blue at least that's a plus" (California is a Democratic State, Arizona is Republican, 'red'). | |
