Speechless... I am captivated by this song, this lyrics are so strong and symbolic. The melodies are beatiful and inspiring. I just started listening to there music, so I dont know much about their history or their backgrounds, so its hard for me to decifer what the song is trying to say. Im taking a calculated guess that its about soliders, dieing across seas. Showing strength in fathers and bringing life to other people. Theirs a lot of messages in this song so its really hard to just pick up one thing.

I have had enough of the cash and reznor battle. Their both great musiciaions and both played the song equally. Reznor and Cash have been both been through many hardships in their lives. Reznor saw that so he allowed cash to cover hurt. Not a lot of people heared of hurt, before Cash covered it and I think Reznor wanted to get his song across. Cash did amazing remake of this song, you can hear the emotion in his voice..I will finish this comment later..My chem class jsut ended :)

Ive been reading these comments, but no one has really talked about the meaning of the song. Yes, it can have several different meanings and yes it can be just a battle song. In my thoughts, every song has a moral value, a point or a message. Every song is a masterpiece whitch carries a secret of sorts. A secret of the band, trying to get their message towards their fans. What I think this song means does not matter, because what I think would probally get shoned by all of you people for my opinion. So im going to leave with one more thing, just because the lyrics are strange or the music is different does not mean the meaning of the song is also ridiuclas. You must dig deep into a song to find its true values. A message that was heared, should have always been learned- Sarbelas...

Well, Sadly I found this song on guitar hero 2. At the time I played it..I was quite moved by the lyrics and the melodies on the song itself. What the meaning of this song is not the beggining of life..but in a way its a good way to look at it. The song is about forgetting yourself. Its about a person who doesnt know who they are. But they do have dark secrets inside, that have been hidden away.."This sinking ship has information that will tear us a part".. P.S..This is my first post..WooT!
