[End backing lyrics are:] Everytime we're intercepted Feels love like suicide Slow and sad, come in silence Arise a bitter time (See you at the bitter end) I love to see you run around And I can see you now Full to bleed, arms wide out (See you at the bitter end) Come on and reach in sighs Grab the gentleness inside Heard a cry Six months time (See you at the bitter end) In six months time prepare the end (See you at the bitter end) [Taken from sing356.com. id say theyre about 90% correct... they also kinda prove how crap my previous theory was] |

The kombucha mushroom people sitting around all day ^^^^^^^^^ This is easy when you know what kombucha mushrooms are. Basicly its a herbal remedy, the kombucha ushrrom people are hippys. Hes complaining that theyre the ones who say they are activists and the ones protecting the earth and whatever but in reality they just sit around all day. Reinforced by the stereotype of stoned hippys who get high and talks about clouds all day. |

It means your not alone: not the only one thats sad so accept it and deal with it. Im suprised such a commercialised band mirrors my opinions :) |

Argh had an idea: 'all circles created with intention an ocean turns yellow it soothes the eye' ***In the first verse there was a 'drought', in the second theres a flood... *** everything is coming full circle; theres weather cycles; (all that had evaporated in the drought has come full circle) These were created with intention? meaning it had to happen eventually? :S dunno about that rly... an ocean formed by the floods then dries up... turning yellow: desert And it soothes the eye cos ya'know hes used to it n stuff :S Just an idea... floods and droughts could be metaphorical.. maybe he's turning all of lifes problems and whatnot into a weather metaphor: 'daily storm'. On an unrelated noe: Who else hates the video for this? |

Ddadutta: Mastodon usually name songs according to what they sound like: ie motherpuncher, trainwreck. Anyway, kudos on the enviromentalism thing, i hadnt got a clue what it was about before that.... Amazing song /,,/ |

Well seeing as the albums called 'Sleeping With Ghosts', i took it to mean that the (lets call it a guy) guy here was in love with someone who died... and he feels 'dead' aswell as (call it her) her... Thinking about it, its pretty flawed but i thought id explain anyway :D this is my first comment btw: ----- Since we're feeling so anesthetised In our comfort zone He feels anesthetised: numb to whats happening around him. They both cant feel anything anymore. Comfort zone can refer to anywhere... but i just take it as 'earth' and 'afterlife'... ----- Reminds me of the second time That I followed you home hes just thinking about all the things he did her, maybe about how his deeds all went to waste? ----- We're running out of alibis From the second of May Ever since she died, people/he felt that he has less and less reason to be grieving and should just get on with life. (just a guess) ----- Reminds me of the summer time On this winter's day Its a winters day... Eg everything in life is all dead and cold or whatever but all the time he had with her (of which he is being reminded of) was a summers day.. ----- Every step we take that's synchronized Every broken bone He feels shes still with him everywhere, every step, every broken bone. Shes watching over and watching out for him. Like jesus or something... ----- You shower me with lullabies Whenever he tries to go to sleep he can only think of her... (lullabies- shes 'singing' to him) As you're walking away Shes walking away: the memory of her and the happiness she gave him fading away... ----- Reminds me that it's killing time On this fateful day Its a year since she died... fateful: he understands he couldnt stop her dying and that it wasnt his fault. therefore its someone elses fault: fate; life etc. ----- From the time we intercepted Feels more like suicide... As i said in the first paragraph... losing her feels like suicide, it feels like he's dead. Intercepted can mean: +First met (the whole fate thing ties into this) she was destined to die therefore falling in love with her was the actual problem, not her dying. +They first intercepted between him living and her in the afterlife: They had a seance?/Her being in his thoughts, watching over him.... (Hence the album, 'Sleeping With Ghosts', and this whole interpretation) Maybe he feels shes a ghost thats walking with him every step, showering him with lullabies, etc. ----- See you at the bitter end You can work that one out yourself :) ----- OH JUST TO CLARIFY FOR A FEW OF YOU: 'SLEEPING WITH GHOSTS' does NOT refer to someone who, whenever he falls asleep, meets Casper The Friendly Ghost and chums... It may or may not refer to necrophilia :) Personally i prefer it in the more romantic way as explained in my interp.... |
