Oasis – Lord Don't Slow Me Down Lyrics 18 years ago
Mally, Matt wrote that last year.

But, yes, it is indeed now a single for their documentary movie of the same name.

I kind of agree with ShakerMaker...
Noel is singing way too much...Liam should sing ALL of the songs, as he's the better singer.

Personally, I think the song's okay, but it's definitely not "one of the best things," as Noel puts it. Of course, he's always cocky when it comes to his music. I like it, but I don't think it would've been good on Don't Believe the Truth.

Their new album next year will hopefully contain better songs. Namely, I hope it contains "Stop the Clocks". Apparently, that song is supposed to be awesome, at least that's what Noel says. But then again, Noel says a whole lot of things.

For some reason, this reminds me of Radiohead's "Kid A" song...

It's definitely one of the better ones on the disc.

UNKLE – Rabbit In Your Headlights Lyrics 18 years ago
Wow, rog. That was single-handedly the best comment about any song's meaning that I have seen on this site. Well-done.

Obviously, I have nothing substantial to add. The song speaks for itself. It's awesome. The music actually sounds like it's suffocating the narrator (Thom). And the video is one of the most haunting vids I've ever seen. Yeah, I first watched this thing late at night. Around 2 AM. For some reason, the vid got to me. It scared the hell out of me.

Radiohead – Weird Fishes/Arpeggi Lyrics 18 years ago
The ending of this song is so powerful...so climactic...kind of like the ending to Where I End and You Begin...it totally makes the song...

I agree that the song seems to be Yorke ruminating on existentialism...he wants an "escape"...he fantasizes of nature and the far reaches of the earth...hard to put that type of sentiment to words, but even I have felt that before.

Radiohead – Bangers + Mash Lyrics 18 years ago
This'll be on the bonus disc...it'll probably be the "Bodysnatchers" of the disc (the rocker). Unless, of course, they use the faster-paced version of "Down Is the New Up." Or if "Up on the Ladder" is still a rocker.

We all thought "Reckoner" would be heavy, but they turned that into a slower, mellower song.

Radiohead – Bodysnatchers Lyrics 18 years ago
I kind of see a similarity...

But still, I don't think Radiohead copied the song...

Number of the Beast has more of a machine-gun style riffing to it...

Something tells me Radiohead weren't influenced by Iron Maiden.

Radiohead – Jigsaw Falling into Place Lyrics 18 years ago
Riplivejam, you're the biggest idiot on the site right now...

Notice how you seem to be the ONLY ONE ripping on In Rainbows?

Who the fuck needs electric guitar? This song is extremely upbeat and even catchy compared to the rest of the album. Just because "Reckoner" didn't turn out to be the original version does not mean the rest of the album sucks. Get the fuck over it.

Radiohead – 15 Step Lyrics 18 years ago
I love the children's choir vocal effects...

In a long line of great Radiohead openers, this one's one of the best.

As for its meaning....I have no clue whatsoever.

Radiohead – Bodysnatchers Lyrics 18 years ago
That bass riff on this song is hella cool...

One of the best on In Rainbows, that's for sure...

Perhaps Yorke is re-visiting his old lyrical obsession with health.

Radiohead – Reckoner Lyrics 18 years ago
Yeah, the orginal version was a very heavy rocker...

Honestly, I was KIND OF hoping for that version...I thought some rock would only help the album...

But the album version is so frickin' sweet...blows the original away. Wish I knew the lyrics...it's hard to discern what he says on this album...at least compared to his other albums...but somebody will eventually figure the lyrics out. Or Radiohead will reveal them.

Radiohead – Videotape Lyrics 18 years ago
Yeah, someone needs to post the Faust Arp lyrics...because I have no damn clue what they are...

It may be argued, but I reckon this is the best Radiohead album closer since Street Spirit.

The lyrics on the album also seem reminiscent of The Bends, very personal.

Phenomenal song.

Fucking amazing...Radiohead prove time and time again that no band right now are even on the same PLANET as these guys.

One of the best on the album...might be THE best...

Such a laid back, haunting song...most of In Rainbows has that effect. It IS a very minimal album...but the songs are excellent.

Radiohead – Meeting in the Aisle Lyrics 18 years ago
Could the title be a rumination on the video for Fake Plastic Trees? It would definitely fit.

Foo Fighters – Let It Die Lyrics 18 years ago
Well, I like the first part...much morew haunting...I think if they kept it like that, it would produce a better effect...

The song is still good, though...

Yeah, it seems to be about Courtney (I, like many FF fans, am disgruntled that people believe that EVERY one of their songs is either about Kurt or Courtney, however, this one DOES seem directed at her)...

I believe she sold the rights to Nirvana's songs...in fact, they were presented on a whole episode of Cold Case...obviously, Dave and Krist wouldn't have done that, and Dave is wondering how she could've sold out Nirvana's music, "letting it die" in the process.

Foo Fighters – But, Honestly Lyrics 18 years ago
Yeah, this is one of my favorites on the album...I love the opening acoustic work...and the ending guitar freakout is pretty damn cool...

I think the song is about the narrator having said something bad to the person he loves...and she's taking it really badly. So, this song asks for forgiveness and says that he never meant to hurt her so badly...I like the 'But, honestly' part...it's like he's trying to make the woman crack a smile.

ACTUALLY, I take that back. I've just listened to the album over again...

I don't know what happened, but I all of a sudden love every song on the album...

Guess I was being a tad too petty and judgmental...and I'm sorry for that.

Foo Fighters – Long Road To Ruin Lyrics 18 years ago
Apparently, this will be the 2nd single. I have no clue why "Cheer Up, Boys" is not a single (I could think of so many hilarious plots for a music video for that one). This song is okay, but admittedly, a bit cheesy. Sure, some FF songs have been a bit cheesy in the past, but that's why I liked them. This one, though...I like it, but I don't love it. That's my opinion for most of the songs on the album.

Such a good song. Best "ballad" on the album (and it's chock-full of them).

Kind of reminds me of Come As You Are. To be honest, I have no clue why.

I posted a comment saying that The Pretender was the best song on the album on that song's thread. I was WRONG. Dead wrong.

This song is so fucking good...it pains me that the rest of the album (I found it rather disappointing) isn't at least close to the quality of the song.

I love the title. Best song title ever.

THERE'S A WORLD OUT THERE!!!!!!!

The Good, the Bad and the Queen – Herculean Lyrics 18 years ago
This song sounds like something Radiohead would do circa Amnesiac.

Best song on the album, bar none. Like choan said, it is very dark and sad...perhaps the protagonist knows that his existence means nothing to the rest of the world, that history will go on no matter what he does.

Rather amibguous lyrics,

The Good, the Bad and the Queen – The Good, The Bad & The Queen Lyrics 18 years ago
No comments...sad, really. I mean, I know nobody here in America knows who Albarn is, let alone this band.

This is an amazing closer. The song itself is good, but the ending guitar freakout is awesome.

As for the meaning...I've heard somewhere how it's about the same sun shining on everybody, from criminals to the Queen. Probably an under-handed jab at racism, perhaps?

The Good, the Bad and the Queen – History Song Lyrics 18 years ago
"If you don't know it now, then you will do..." may be one of the best refrains of the year.

Kind of sad most people overlook this band, as it features excellent musicians...Albarn (Blur, Gorillaz), Simonon (The Clash), Tong (The Verve), and Tony Allen, who may very well be one of the best drummers of the era. Honestly, this album just might be the best album so far this year.

Foo Fighters – The Pretender Lyrics 18 years ago
Frickin' awesome.

This is their best 1st single since "Learn to Fly." Yes, that means it's better than the great songs "All My Life" and "Best of You."

I thought it was a ballad at first, but the song switches gears quickly to become an anthemic rocker. This song might be the best full-out rock song of the year so far. After everyone thought FF went "soft", it's nice to hear them raging out like this.

As for the meaning, I think the song is about the protagonist not succumbing to become one of the government's pawns. He doesn't want to be a fake, a "pretender", while the poor and less fortunate are still left with nothing.

Paul McCartney – Nod Your Head Lyrics 18 years ago
Pretty good, catchy song...I know McCartney's not really known for making "rock" songs anymore, but this one works well. You know if Pearl Jam or some modern rock band like them did this it would be great. But you can't go wrong with Sir Paul.

Green Day – American Idiot Lyrics 18 years ago
Honestly, Green Day shouldn't be getting the hate that they're getting, but when you get famous, people hate you. That's how it is.

They are overrated, but they're not bad in any way, shape, or form. And to say they sold out on an album that features several 8-minute rock 'operettas' is ludicrous. Let's face it. Their best album was Dookie, a staple of '90s alternative radio. If they sold out at any point, they sold out there. But I just say they got better. Because the two albums before that were rather lackluster. It's like Radiohead going from Pablo Honey to The Bends. They just, somehow, became better.

The Black Keys – 10 A.M. Automatic Lyrics 18 years ago
SWEET song.

It PAINS ME to know that still most people have no idea who these guys are. Seriously, these guys rock. This song is no exception. How this song didn't come a hit, I have no clue, but I get the satisfaction of knowing one more good song than everybody else.

It's got the catchy riff, and Auerbach really has a cool voice. It's just straight-blues rock, nothing fancy. But you gotta love the short guitar solo at the end. These guys sound like they record in a tire factory. And they do. Mega props.

These guys and the White Stripes are bringing back Zeppelin-era blues rock, one song at a time.

Radiohead – Bangers + Mash Lyrics 18 years ago
If they put this on the album, I'll be very impressed. I mean, this is the hardest rocking song they've done since "Electioneering".

I agree with an above post that this song is about corruption, either by the government or by the mass media.

And I can't help but squeal in delight when he sings, "I've got the poison."

Even if you don't understand most of Radiohead's lyrics, you can't deny that Yorke comes up with some pretty cool one-liners.

The Beatles – I Am the Walrus Lyrics 18 years ago
The lyrics to the song are a kind of test to listeners...everyone was going crazy over the "Paul is Dead" hoax, and Lennon wanted to see what interpretations people would come up with if he wrote a song that was about utter nonsense. And, as predicted, many people tried to find a sort of "hidden" meaning, listening to each word over and over obsessively. And Lennon probably laughed at those people and did the Goo Goo G'Joob dance.

Which makes it all the more surprising at the sheer awesomeness of the song...but, let's face it, they were the Beatles. This just might be the best Beatles songs, definitely one of the more harder-rocking ones. I think many people overlook the influence the Beatles had on the alternative movement, with their cryptic lyrics in this, "Come Together," "Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds," and "A Day in the Life."

This is tied for my fav. song on the album with the title track and 300 MPH...

Hey, I just realized something...

Korn sucks. Badly.

At least now they do. While I've never been a fan, at least they had some good songs, like "Got the Life," "Freak on a Leash", "Make Me Bad," and "Here to Stay."

This song is terrible. The "hook" is a horrible, obnoxious mess. And, of course, Korn decides to speak out on environmental issues. How original. Seeing as just about every band out there is doing the same thing, but with more, ah, how do you put it...grace.

Radiohead – 15 Step Lyrics 18 years ago
Whenever the album comes out (now it seems it's being pushed back to early 2008...damn), this should be the 1st single. I've seen videos of Radiohead performing their new material, and I must say, all the songs are amazing. This is probably the best, having an almost reggae-like feel until the melodic guitar kicks in. The new material seems much more upbeat than anything they released since The Bends. While OK Computer is Radiohead's obvious touchstone, I reckon this new album could be better than both Amnesiac and Hail to the Thief. It would have to be really good to surpass Kid A, but we'll see how the stuff sounds on record. It surely sounds amazing live.

Radiohead – Let Down Lyrics 18 years ago
100th comment, BITCHES.

ANYWHO, my favorite song on OK Computer.

The song seems to be about the state of being bored, watching all these events taking place and not caring enough to be part of them. The chorus could possibly be interpreted as a plea for something interesting, where everything turns upside-down. It's such a classic song, and should've been released as a single.

Pearl Jam – World Wide Suicide Lyrics 18 years ago
DivineDemon, I think they were referring to the nu-metal scene, but whatever...

A great song off a great album...sounds like it could've been on Vs. The meaning of the song is quite literal compared to their other songs...it's about the mishandling of the war in Iraq by George Bush. The chorus kind of strays off the course, but the "world wide suicide" probably refers to nuclear war. If one country bombs another, others will retaliate, and soon, in essence, every country will have committed "suicide".

I have to say that I love Eddie Vedder's singing on this track.

Foo Fighters – All My Life Lyrics 18 years ago
100th comment, bitches!!!!!!!!

It may be about cunnilingus, but the lyrics don't seem that obvious. I mean, I know Dave is adamant on that interpretation, but I can't help but think he's just fucking with us. The lyrics, especially the opening part, seem to be about finding whatever it is that you're looking for, which, in the narrator's case, seems to be revenge.

Audioslave – Original Fire Lyrics 18 years ago
Obviously, Cornell and Co. feel that recent rock music has gone down the shitter (I would retort by saying that they're not listening to the right bands, but to each his/her own), stating that the "original fire" that the rock acts of old had (Hendrix, The Clash, Zeppelin) has died, but as millions of people still listen to their music, that fire lingers on, waiting to expose itself. Then again, it could simply be about the end of the grunge movement. Many people believe grunge officially ended when Soundgarden broke up, and Cornell wants to prove he's still the same guy.

Musically, this song is great. The chorus is insanely catchy and will stay in your head for days...the basswork during the verses is great, and the "cat-wail" guitar solo adds a whole new dimension to the song. Many people feel turned off by Morello's rather odd guitar solos. He tries to bring something new every time he plays a guitar solo...many times, you find yourself disbelieving that a guitar could even produce such sounds.

Green Day – American Idiot Lyrics 18 years ago
Yes, Green Day are amassing an army of 12-year old girls to undermine and eventually take over the United States government. If there's people that actually believe that Green Day are trying to brainwash people, they should be electroshocked for their own good. There's always a "next" button on your CD player, guys. If you don't want to hear the message, by all means, don't.
