kiahjoi: Not all satellites are man-made. The Earth's moon and Pluto's Chiron are natural satellites, for example. |

Ever had a moment that seemed so perfect, that instead of feeling awesome about surrounded by such goodness, the thought of the possibility of never having something as good happen to you again depresses you instead?
I think this song can pertain to that feeling.
I remember how my Philosophy professor that it's better to die young at the height of your life than to wait for everything to go downhill. Perhaps this song can pertain to that, er...life philosophy. The persona thinks he's already reached the peak of his life, and he wants to end it on that glorious note. |

She probably wrote these lyrics for her former band, Bumpus. I think this song can be interpreted beyond the break-up/broken relationship perspective. I just resigned from my job and I can totally relate with the song. Same goes with "Reason Why". |

I don't think this song is about a romantic relationship, but of course, everyone can have their own interpretations. Read more about Ms. Yamagata's story and it will make more sense to you. I think she wrote this for Bumpus, the group she used to work with. |

I think this could be a song about an believer-turned-atheist who reconciled with God, and his old beliefs. Like scientists who get caught up too much with their theories that they forget that there is actually a "force" working behind them. Or something like that. |

Satellites are objects that orbit around another---like how the moon revolves around the earth and always stays near even as the planet zooms around the sun and through outer space. However, despite always being around the earth, the moon always maintains a distance.
The persona in this song is speaking to someone who's always around. That someone is always nearby, and yet, frustratingly enough, he still cannot reach her somehow due to certain circumstances.
I love how the songwriters used this metaphor; I've never seen it used before. |
