this song is actually about a deteriorating relationship. they've drifted apart and reach a point where one of them continues on their journey, while the other is left behind. probably because of the emotional scars. the lyrics are wrought with symbolism. this song breaks my heart. i get butterflies in my stomach whenever i hear it. may i suggest everybody check out the Thin White Duke remix. its the best version, in my opinion. |

First of all, this is by far my favorit Meg & Dia song. I dont necessarily think its about an ex boyfriend. I think she falls in love with a best friend who is in a serious relationship. It gets to the point where she doesnt even wanna be a friend anymore because it hurts to see him so happy with someone else. It may just seem like this to me because I've gone through the exact same scenario. |

" Basically, I was in L.A. for awhile, and going through some stuff...and my mom hadn't heard from me for three or four months, and she was just kinda getting worried about me and checking into see if I had re-upped all my medication. Which I hadn't. And she probably knew that, cause of mom's intuition, you know...they always know when something's wrong.
