"Why shouldn't it be me?" does imply that there is something unattainable or socially unacceptable about consummating the relationship, as does "Don't tell me what's proper/ Anyone can see/ I wasn't even her first/ So don't blame it on me." I feel like there must be something more to it--something more taboo than it just being a woman talking about another woman. Or is that still pretty taboo? |
