| Oasis – Don't Look Back in Anger Lyrics | 18 years ago |
This song is about tripping on acid. Think about it: "Slip inside the eye of your mind Don't you know you might find A better place to play" Should be easy enough to see. When on acid you can see yourself somewhat separate from your body. inside the eye of your mind means some sort of psychadelic drug. "Start a revolution from my bed..." When on these two drugs you feel like you are on top of the world, a very big upper. "Her soul slides away" After looking at acid there you can reflect on who you have been recently and pick the things you like. In effect, it can be a realization of the bad things going on and a chance to put it "... before i took acid". Your sould slips away would be the old you, the "...before I took acid" you. " Take me to the place where you go Where nobody knows If it's night or day You have no concept of time when on acid. "Please don't put your life in the hands Of a Rock 'n' Roll band Who'll throw it all away" -Ever hear of a rock band that used drugs? Just a thought, but I think its about a trip |

| Bob Dylan – You're Gonna Make Me Lonesome When You Go Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I think this is my favorite Dylan tune. It's just so perfectly accurate that its impossible not to feel that way at least once in your life. The album "Blood on the Tracks" was written after Dylan split with his wife. The album is filled with heart breaker tunes. |

| The Thrills – Big Sur Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| Big Sur is the name of one of Jack Kerouac's novels, the novel to follow On The Road. It is a very depressing book, much more of a downer than OTR. Just don't go back to Big Sur is a reference to that. | |
| The Rolling Stones – Let It Bleed Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Is there any doubt, in anybody's mind, that this song is utterly and completely about sex. There shouldn't be. |
| Ben Harper – Suzie Blue Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| No, tommy b, this song is not ben's "When I'm Sixty-four". Just because a song employs the use of a clarinet does not mean it is Paul's song. The only thing outside of the clarinet that the two have in common are that they are love song's (and that's still somewhat of a stretch with this song). There's plenty of song's and artists that use both of those facets in the same song. | |
| Bruce Springsteen – Born in the U.S.A. Lyrics | 18 years ago |
The beauty of this song is that Bruce is ripping the US during the Vietnam War, yet Ronny was still able to use it as a means of gaining patriotic feelings in his campaigns. Im sure that's exactly what Springsteen had in mind when writing |

| Bruce Springsteen – I'm on Fire Lyrics | 18 years ago |
This is possibly the most underrated song on the album... maybe in Bruce's overall collection. Short, but hits the point. the guitar and drums are soft in the background, enforcing the lyrics all the more. And who doesn't love the four great lines in the middle? "Sometimes its like someone took a knife Baby edgy and dull And cut a six-inch valley Through the middle of my skull" Its about lusting a girl who is with someone else. Bruce is wanting a woman, but is left with thoughts in his sleep and no chance. |
| Bob Dylan – Leopard-Skin Pill-Box Hat Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| Pretty near every song Dylan wrote around this time is about sex. This would be one of those songs. | |
| Bruce Springsteen – Thunder Road Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| This album is so wonderful, yet completely frusterating. No matter how hard I work and how hard I try, I will never be able to write anything that comes close to any of the lyrics on this album. God Damn this stuff is good. | |
| Rod Stewart – Maggie May Lyrics | 18 years ago |
This is a perfect Rod Stewart song... a hopeless lover longing for a girl that destroys him. And how great is the line "The morning sun when it's in your face really shows your age" |

| Arcade Fire – Intervention Lyrics | 18 years ago |
This song is plainly and obviously an anti-bush song. Lets break it down. "The king’s taken back the thrown The useless seed is sewn" GWB is re-elected. His uselessness as president is back. "You’re fighting as a solider on their side You’re still a soldier in your minds But nothing's on the line" Many of the soldiers are poor and lower class who need the military for money. They are fighting for Bush's red state, big money, elite politics. Nothing's on the line is a reference to fighting a war with no meaning or purpose. "Working for the church while your family dies" The president is commander-in-chief. His family is the military. His working for the church is his claim and commitment to christianity despite being a "war" president and ordering the killing of thousands. "Oh, who’s going to reset the bone? Walking with your head in a sling Want to hear the soldier sing" Soldiers come back, often injured, and are never taken care of despite the military's "commitment" to their soldiers. "We can’t find you now But they’re going to get their money back somehow And when you finally disappear Will they say you were never here?" Dead soldiers that fought so Bush and friends could make more money in Iraq. His disregard for troops to make a profit. Arcade Fire is a very, very smart band who goes deep in its lyrics. These aren't typical lyrics, they're much more educated than that. And P.S., this is the best song on the album... by far. |

| Bright Eyes – The City Has Sex Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| Its not about masturbation you wanker. Its about relationships and Connor's depression. He wants a good relationship where he is happy ("I need something I want to be close to"). | |
| Bright Eyes – Landlocked Blues Lyrics | 18 years ago |
It's an anti-war song. Connor seems to hit the anti-war songs perfectly and this is certainly no different. He's got a way of playing the slow, quiet songs with enough emphasis to make it work. The following lines should tell the story on its own: "We made love on the living room floor With the noise in the background from a televised war And in that deafening pleasure, I thought I heard someone say "If we walk away, they walk away" But greed is a bottomless pit And our freedom's a joke, we're just taking a piss And the whole world must watch the sad comic display If you're still free, start running away" The tyrant leader ran the war through the media (televised war) early on to gain support. Connor is saying we should leave Iraq to make it a better situation since there are little repricutions on the homefront. (f we walk away, they walk away). And then he makes a point about the freedoms we're supposed to have don't truly exist. Pointed but well put. |

| Bob Dylan – Don't Think Twice, It's All Right Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Probably the best break up/bad relationship song you can find.... before that's all anyone wanted to write about. Might be the best song Dylan ever made (maybe not his best written, but the best in all). |
| Bob Dylan – Maggie's Farm Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| I dont think it could be any more obvious... the song is a statement against the government. If you cant see the connections you're lacking in your knowledge of Dylan. | |
| Bright Eyes – Let's Not Shit Ourselves (To Love and to Be Loved) Lyrics | 18 years ago |
This, to me, is Connor's coming out party. He gets everything off of his chest in this song, whether it be his hatred for the corporate media, his hatred for the president, fear of stepping into the limelight, or his battle with depression and suicide. Its def. my favorite song he's done, possibly one of the greatest songs ever done. He's such a progressive it is stunning. |

| Wilco – Spiders (Kidsmoke) Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Anyone who doesn't like this song doesn't understand Tweedy's vision for Wilco. This is the reason they dropped Bennett, to do more long version, musically diverse, distorted, acidic mixes. My favorite lines are "There's no blood on my hands I just do as I am told" Tweedy is a very hands-off guy outside of his music, and due to his medical issues he just sort of let things happen and worried about them the whole time. This is basically Tweedy saying he's not taking action, he's just going to be hit by whatever wave comes into his life and deal with it as he may. |
| Wilco – The Late Greats Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Most of you are wrong. The song isn't tongue-in-cheek at all. Tweedy is actually a really easy guy to understand in some of his songs. Tweedy was very frustrated after A&R dropped him when Time Warner and AOL merged. He resigned with Nonesuch, another Time Warner label, which made no sense since the company just dropped Wilco. This song was actually written during the YFH CD era, but released here after alterations that were made when Jay Bennett left. The song is a shot at the corporate music industry, how all they produce is shit and the real good bands never make it big. Whether you consider Wilco to be in that category, well thats up to you. Tweedy was definitely making a statement here though. |
