The Dresden Dolls – Mrs. O. Lyrics 19 years ago
I adore this song quite a bit, though I didn't at first because to me, it's got severe religious overtones.
(The more I look at it, the Holocaust survivor thing seems more and more plausible. This is just my opinion. I think my interpretation is just me projecting what's been shoved at me by religious people trying to get me to convert to their faith onto Amanda's words. Que sera sera, C'est la vie, it's still a wonderful song.)

To me,
It feels like she's kind of mocking her Sunday school teacher, who told her about Hell and such. "Tell us where the naughty children go?"
And then she compares the bullshit they feed you to saying the snow isn't real. "Well, psh, the sky turned white and it was all cold and snow even fell into the fireplace, but they denied it's existence, all blind from religion." The typical "Pray to make it go away" kind of thing I see a lot of religious people do when they don't like something.

And then Mrs. O gives in, says the snow IS real, but hey, we can make it go away...so they go out and try to make the snow go away. Just a silly project like kids do in school.

And then it goes on to say, "Well what about all the bad things you've done? We know all the stuff you told us when we were small is total crap. If it wasn't for the lies, the world would be happy."

And then, the next verse is Mrs. O getting annoyed with her mocking, sassy additude and she's giving up on teaching her to be innocent and the girl is like "Will you kill me if I say I told you so?"

But none of the stuff she's learned, proving religion wrong and such, is going to save her because everybody else is blinded and bringing the sky to fall on our heads because of it, so we might as well play along and believe in their word, because if not, everyone will fall apart and have to actually DEAL with their own problems.

But as I said, just my cynical, jaded opinion. ^_^

The Dresden Dolls – Missed Me Lyrics 19 years ago
I think you've all wonderfully hit it on the head.
By far, I think the best part of the song besides the tone of it, is the background sound effects.

"If you kiss me mister, you must (sound of a zipper) think I'm pretty."

It's my favorite part of the song....

But that one verse has a zillion different sounds to it, which adds in depth to the song.

First, it's a zipper [You must think I'm pretty] (Off with the pants!)
And then it's the sound a lollipop makes when you take it out of your mouth...[If you think so, mister] (Blowjob?)
Then there's the drums throwing up a cresendo[It must mean you love me] (Orgasm?)
And then someone drops some change...[It's as simple as can be...Ah! *ding*] (She got paid?)

Then throughout the instrumental, there's some "Ooo's" in the background, someone messing with pots and then paper ripping...I dunno, I could dig through this entire song and find probably twelve stories behind it.

The Dresden Dolls – Gravity Lyrics 19 years ago
I love reading through all the different interpretations. Hopefully you won't think one more is overdoing it.

This is my FAVORITE song by them, and I personally haven't a clue what she meant it to be about, but I think it's like...Someone is caught in something they don't want to be, but they think it's kind of funny.

The ENTIRE feel of the song is very mocking to me, like sarcasm.
It feels like she's just annoyed with everyone around her because all these bad things are happening to her and almost nobody notices.
Those who do, don't take it right and so she has to explain it over and over again.
Finally she gives up and deals with the sky falling down on her.
She'll still react to it, so please forgive me, officer, but she's resigned to reacting like that.
