To me its about a woman who escaped an abusive/threatening father with what she though was her dream man who sweet talked her with visions of happiness. The man married her, she had 2 children and then he left her on her own with the 2 boys. She left 1 bad relationship and entered another beleiving it would improve her life. Now shes alone and depressed. Another interpretation would be the mass pilgrimage from Scotlands steel works to Corby in England in the 80's when thousands left with the promise of long term jobs and better lives and then the industry folded leaving numerous Scot's stranded in Corby. |

Good song, great to drive to. The basic story of uncertainty of what will happen next and an upbringing in which one is exposed to poverty and the ills that accompany it is captured well. The part I find most interesting however is how the protagonist's instinct tells him to run back to his own 'block'. An instinct that Pac obviously felt and understood, one could argue that the area known to them would provide the best chance of survival in this situation, or as i like to think one wishes to die in familiar surrounding's, to return home and go out. Also the way in which theres two sides to a story and the Police only saw one side, i.e. the protagonist's retaliation, they never saw the primary attack whcih leads to the gun fight. Good tune. |

A welcome powerful message against unprotected teenage promiscuity. Unlike other media like televsion for example which in some cases actively promote it, after all monkey see, monkey do. The song outline the effects of the act and also the hardships to be encountered, prostitution and eventually Brenda's murder. Whilst I have no issues with the poor women that find themselves in these situations I believe the issue has to be resolved, education about the horrors to be faced and not the help you can get would surely go some way to prevent further issues like this. |
