This just struck me as I was listening to the song... The lion could be temptation or something along those lines outside of the body, and the wolf could be your conscience or demons or however you want to look at it from inside your head. The lion is outside always trying to find a way in, and when the wolf is loud and strong (in your head) it opens the door (you justify), satisfying the temptation. Then you after having fun or however you put it with the temptation or lion, the wolf sticks around and reminds you how you messed up. All in all I think the wolf is a double meaning for the devil and here is why. "Mocking man's best friend." Obviously its not talking about a dog, because that just doesn't make sense in this song. Man's best friend is Jesus, our savior, redeemer, ect. The devil tries to copy God at times, and this is what Dustin could've meant by mocking. Just a possibility. |

I think Skillet has it close, AND the title has a lot to do with it. The first two verses are about the church as a whole, the common conquering Christian attitude. Save save save its a numbers game, but its done in a fake heart so much of the time. I've been there. I've also been the one pretending everything is going great and God has given me the most perfect life, when inside my head and heart thats not what is going on. But being honest, having hope/faith, acting with integrity, thats what is going to lead people to Jesus. Its the sin not the sinner. Get real with your faith and be true; you'll feel better about it. Thats how I'm reading it anyways, and it feels right to me. |

| I get depressed in the winter, so this song caught my ear because Jesus offers the comfort I need in December (and the rest of the year but especially now). The grandparents idea is so cool and fits perfectly with these lyrics. Thank God words mean different things to different ears. | |
