This annoys me. He is obviously singing "on the SURLY side of town," not on the *sunny* side. Listen. There's an "R" in there. Same with "give you time to think": it's "GIFT" you time to think. I can understand when it's not so easy to hear, but he makes it so clear! URGH |

I agree that's most likely the intended meaning of the song, but I've had a different interpretation myself. The whole album as a beachy feel to me, and the album came out just as my fiance was coming to visit me for my 19th birthday (I was living by the Jersey shore at the time, and he is where we're both now -- Los Angeles). I sensed the whole unattainable thing. Although he was perfect, and real, I couldn't touch him. It spoke to me in that way, if you catch my drift ... horrible at explaining this crap. :P One of my FAVORITE songs on the last album! LOVED the remix! |
