| hm march of the winter. february is the 3rd month of winter, and march is the 3rd month in a year. also, he could be saying that the winter is marching away into spring, since february is the last month of winter. | |

Symbolic of life and death. The first verse symbolizes death and its forewarnings. He speaks of winter, a cold month of fragility and depression. He turned seventeen, a crucial turning point between childhood and adulthood. Wrote a letter - suicide possibly? The next verse explains that death comes to everyone. The setting sun is the end of the day (end of life), everyone gets tired (of life) and theres nothing to do but sleep (eternally). The next verse radiates hope. Spring came bearing sunlight; spring is the next season after winter; maybe life is great after all. He gave himself a few more days (after contemplating death). When Justin said, "...if you decide to leave, soon i will follow", he was saying that death not only affects the dead person, but everyone that surrounded the person. The next lines describe that new life produces new deaths. "I hope that wombs not too warm because its cold out here..." reinforces that symbol of coldness in the winter and warmness in spring. To breathe this air = life, to discover loss = death. The baby won't see no lies = life and death are real things. With death being a real concept, the baby can live purely like snow and gold. -josh |

I think the intro is nice. The man tells the girl that she's having a birthday party; you have a birthday party once a year, and it makes you feel very special and happy. They are going to die anyways, so to make the girl feel special, he tells her she's having a birthday party, the last one she will EVER have (unless she lives). Shows that even the most random people have a kind of compassion for others. -josh |

Such great use of two against three, hemiola (as if it were a meter change). Its not only inventive, but the way she executes it with her lovely and exquisite lyrics/singing is great. its hard to decipher and interpret what she's saying, i think it may be telling a story only to find that it changes the life of the listener. Ancient Mariner anyone? but its hard to say.. |
