Ok so he's definitely saying "I'm my own stone around my neck". Jesse is referring to HIMSELF as the millstone, as in he is weighing himself down. Just because the song's name is Millstone doesn't mean the word is in the song. Any true Brand New fan that has been with the guys from the beginning and have not just jumped on the band wagon and caught up with the albums knows that Jesse will always refer to HIMSELF as his own worst enemy and his hardest obstacle. People are getting a little too far into scripture and referring it back to this song. Yes, Jesse talks about God but he also mocks Christians as well. No songs are singly praising/bashing Jesus, it's a mixture of both (obviously). Point of the song is that he's changed, things have made him into a different person whether it be fame, losing religion, or whatever. p.s. the suicidal posts are insane. If anyone needs to explain to you as to why this song was never about suicide or any of their other songs then you need to do yourself a big favor and never listen to Brand New again. Jesse loves himself a little too much for that ;) |

i know this is going to sound OUTRAGEOUSLY silly but everytime i hear this song i think of Peter Pan. "like dreams are essential for imaginative kids your like big sail on the ship in the sky that propelled the angry captain when the kids learned to fly so fly on, fly on, ohhh fly on " because in Peter Pan, the kids needed to believe before they could fly, and it made Captain Hook mad when they all learned to fly.. and it sounds very typical of Jake to write a song that has a crazy background to it. but I dont know, maybe im just over thinking things lol |

when jake wrote this song him and his girlfriend werent together, but ben and his girl were. so thats where i got that.. but you could be right! lol none the less its still a sweet song about someone thats finally found the love of their life. |

i love this song. its so sweet. its obvious that its about two people that are in love. im almost positive that Jake writes all the songs based on things and people that are in his life. so maybe this song is about Ben and his girl? |
