I like the idea of the Northern Lights, and i think that they may be reflected in the song. I think that to begin with this song seems like it could be the ending of a relationship. But to use SammySins idea of the Northern Lights, the end of the song seems positive, maybe something has made the couple decide to stay together "By a thread we'll hang, to never give in" and maybe it was witnessing the Northern Lights that made them change their minds. Alternatively, the line "by a thread.." may have something to do with the band, as they're native of Alaska, maybe the Northern Lights are visible from there? (I'm from Scotland so i dunno that for certain :p) Just a couple of ideas :) |

i agree with shadowsilence, i think that this song is about forgiveness. At the start of the song it seems like the two people are really distant "you on the floor, i was so attached to the ceiling.." and that whatever is being said between them is really nasty "the glass in your mouth". But as the song goes on, the relationship begins to seem more positive "you whispered in my ear" (a sign of closeness?) and "everything will be alright, even if the city ignites" which to me means whatever happens now, we'll be ok.. Just another opinion :) |

Well, maybe i'm not looking deeply enough.. But i reckon the reference to the ship is meant to be taken literally. I think this song seems like it's about someone who maybe hasn't found any success at home and has decided to take to the seas as a sailor, maybe i'm wrong.. but thats my take on it.. |
