| Placebo – English Summer Rain Lyrics

I believe this song is about perpetual lonliness and despair. The character is in love with a person but cannot come to grips to confront them, so there's this great degree of separation, leaving the character in an incesseant period of "summer rain".
Because the character is shy, he/she expects the person of desire to do the work and "magically" come down to be with him. But realistically, this never happens, so again, the character is left in the basement and the rain. The character fails and fails again with each person of infatuation, which could possibly be the story of the character's life.
Hence the line, "hold your breath, count to ten, fall apart, start again". |

I've been reading some great books on WWI by Keegan, Graves, and Fussel, and I guess because of my selections, this song really reminds me of those men who were goaded into fighting the great war. What an illusion that was. |

| Electronic – Some Distant Memory Lyrics

One of my favorite Electronic songs, not sure why it wasn't selected for their greatest hits. I also wish they added another stanza towards the end of the song, it feels a bit short without it. |
