I think although the old stuff is the old stuff and if you are like me and have been listening to DC for most of your teenage years, nothing will ever compare to it because it reminds you of that time...but in my case, Chris is growing up just like me and I like the direction he is going...I think this album is 20 times better than Dusk and Summer, and I loved that album as well...Call me crazy but I think people are being to critical of Chris. He is growing as an artist and therefore his music is changing. This album also tells me that he HAS been listening to his fans because where can you find a true DC fan who doesn't say "It's nothing like the old stuff?" I think Chris realized that after Dusk and Summer, even after a Mark...A Mission...that we wanted the more acoustic sound back and I think that is exactly what this album is and I LOVE IT! |

This song is AMAZING!!!!!!!!! I saw it live for the first time last weekend. He says on the Radio City dvd that it was inspired by when he went to Africa with his wife and kids and they visitied a tribe that I cannot pronounce very well. He talks about this in the "So Damn Lucky" documentary on the dvd. He explains that the songs they were singing we based on times before there were even words...which is probably where the ee hee-ing comes from. Actually on the documentary it shows him practicing the song and he didn't actually know the name of the song but thats what it says on the sheet music so I guess it stuck. He says he thinks the people of this tribe are actually "the most advanced people on the planet." I love dave. |

One of my favorite songs to hear the boys play live is this as the intro to Everyday...Its just so fun because its all the crowd...If there was one thing I had to do for the rest of my life, 'everyday' it would be go to a Dave concert. |

This response is to Chumscrubber and to anyone else who would like to tell me I am both unintelligent and/or uninformed because I listen to the Dixie Chicks or support anyone else who speaks out. How do you say we have no justification for these statements? It sounds to me that you like to think everyone who has a different view than you is so uninformed but I do not see any evidence of you understanding ANYTHING that is going on with this war. I am sure that President Bush is perfectly qualified for his position of commander and chief but there is no question that he has let us down in so many ways. For someone that “qualified” it’s very unfortunate. How can you say that the Dixie Chicks have used this “incident” to their advantage? I hardly think that having people actually HATE you, destroy your records, refuse to listen to radio stations if they play you, and especially want to KILL you would be something to use as an advantage. I do not think they are trying to make it seem like they have been attacked, although I believe they have been. I would suggest you watch the documentary Shut Up & Sing. You can fast forward through any part that is actually about their music if you don’t like it. I think the whole point of the documentary is to show how out of proportion this whole entire thing has become and just how ignorant some people can actually be. One man in the documentary even says “I Believe in freedom of speech, but for God’s sake don’t do it in public!” Now, I’m not even sure what that man even means by that remark. Another woman even tries to tell her young child to say that he hates the Dixie Chicks…”Say it, Say you hate the Dixie Chicks.” How someone breeds hate into a child like that makes me SICK. I’m not sure if even half of those people even know what Natalie Maines said. That seems to be a bigger problem to me than any of the “altering of the mind” in the youth that you speak of. And to say that its okay to have an opinion but to always incorporate it into your music defeats the purpose of music, interesting opinion, that actually made me laugh, what exactly do you think the purpose of music is? I guess singing about something you feel strongly about is just downright silly huh? I must also add that although your comment is comedy the Dixie Chicks did not plan to sing about politics. They were thrown into it unwillingly after they said their comment. Politics were never incorporated into their music till afterwards. Also, telling me I need to rethink my life because I listen to the Dixie Chicks also made me laugh more than the previous. I believe you have bigger problems than I do. We sound like morons? Hilarious! Also, to say that because they were in another country they were scared is absolute bogus! The statement was said on the eve before the war in London. I’m sure she did speak without thinking, because who knew it would turn into something so silly, but she was just saying what was on her mind! They were never uninformed or unintelligent which is exactly why something like that came out of her mouth. Also referring to your statement “People who act in professional matters will laugh in their faces and say they are trash,” sounds real professional to me. And my last and final point…you say “Go ahead and sing all day, noone hears you…” well I guess that’s why all their success came from absolutely no radio support and they won five Grammys and all the comments on this page is because NOBODY HEARS THEM.

i recently discovered xavier rudd. i cant believe it took me this long. i listened to him the entire time i was in mexico and he will forever remind me of that place. i just found out he is opening for dave which makes me exstatic and i might catch a plane all the way up to massy just to see xavier rudd open for mr.dave matthews. thats how amazing i think it will be. |
