| I have so many interpretations for this song; however, the main one that I have is exactly what the chorus says, “I will carry you.” To me, this means that you always have me to lean on, much like the message in “Stand By Me”. Also, I think it’s extremely poetic, especially in the beginning with the image of the sun reflecting in the water turning the grass black as it is setting. I think that this is a gorgeous image, and I think what the speaker is trying to convey is that there is so much beauty in the world. The speaker is reminding the person that he is sharing this experience with that although there is “dim light” and darkness in life, there is a beauty in it in the end, especially when you do get to share it with someone. The speaker is being reminded by this beautiful experience and wants to also remind that person that they will always be there to depend on. | |
