| Morrissey – First Of The Gang To Die Lyrics

I love Clarks interpretation that hector being the first of the Gang to die is about getting married. The gun references could be refering to a 'shot gun wedding' or getting married cos the bride is pregnant..to be honest its probally nothing to do with marriage but I just love that interpretation, thinking outside the box, like it..please excuse my English, I was born and schooled in England..nuff said! |

I just love the line 'I have forgiven you Jesus'..christianity and religion is always self rightously accusing people of sin and arrogantly fogiving peoples sins where this song turns it round and forgives Jesus for his unconfessed sins...nice poetic justice I think |

Amazingly beautiful song but totally meaningless in my mind..I always thought this song was a bit of a piss take by Thom Yorke to all his over serious fans who over analyse and take it all too seriously, he's just kind a saying he can make anything sound depressing and moving if you sing it in the right way and not always to take things to serioualy,I mean you never wash up after your self, come on that hardly warrants the tone in which he's singing it, sounds more like something you would sing at a funeral than a messy kitchen sink. That said though every time I listen to it it gives me goose bumps and could bring me to tears almost, purely cos the melody is so hauntingly sung in thoms powerful but fragile voice..what do you think??? |

Thank god for xac56, the only one who seemed to get the point of this amazing song...'apathy' is the key word i think. All these things happpen every day but we do nothing to change them and they will keep on happening.
Rather than saying nothing matters he's saying everything matters but society doesnt care a lot of the time....beautiful song, I just love this band, so underrated, Justin Currie is a poet and a great singer..just gutted Ive never seen them live |

| The Rolling Stones – Sympathy for the Devil Lyrics

I think the song is trying to say we all have a bit of the devil in us and it can be unleashed at any time, so dont jump to judge those who you disagree with cos you you may be just as bad as them but cant see it....
the line 'just as every cop a criminal and all the sinners saints' sums it up I reckon.
Thats why the devil is asking for sympathy and courtesy cos the devil is all of us. This is shown in the line ' I shouted out "who killed the kennedys" when after all it was you and me'
All the evils and bad deeds refered to, crucifiction of christ, Rusian revolution, 2nd world war etc were created by society, in other words you and me, we're all the devil folks, get over it...recognition is the first step to re-habilitiation. |

What a beautiful song this is..havent heard it for so long, traveling thr world for the last 2 years and forgot my copy of the game..doh!
As far as Im concerned its being sung to a friend who is as close as a sister and going through big life changes and looking for themselves like we all do. As I say been a while sine Ive had the pleasure of hearing it but I do know Brian sings a section then Freddie kicks in at some point, cant mistake that guy when he starts warbling can you?! |

I love this song, and am positive its one big world pease message.
Thats said I remeber watching a documentry about far right political groups. There was a fascist band on it who did a horrible electronic cover of this song obviously twisting the lyrics into a rascist message about one race etc....really sad to see, jsut thought it might be an interesting point to raise.
It was sickening to see such a great song being treated like that, cos love the song especially that guitar riff, man that Brian can play hey?! |
