The meaning is beating you over the head. We are all idiots and we need to overcome the idiocy to evolve into a higher form. The power that our leaders stride for is only momentary and means nothing in the great scheme of time. In the end we are all still human beings and we all blink in and out of existence. |

To me it's about the liberation of letting go of the guilt and complicity of religion. He feels free but the scars of it are still there. The first verse describes the tolls that religion imposes. Trapping you in and forcing you to believe in an ideology. He insists on giving away all the guilt that religion makes you feel until the "religion mindset" is gone. |

I think it's actually, "Echoing elitism that poisons you," and not "Echoing the reason that poison you." Sounds better and makes a little more sense, since the song is about elitism. |

Not a big deal, but the word 'heroes' is misspelled in the above lyrics, spelled 'til your heros come.' Just thought you should know. :) |

He is just whispering what the preacher is saying, nothing subliminal this time lol. Turn it up sorta loud while you're driving and you'll notice it's just Maynard whispering what the preacher is saying. |

Biggest slap to organized religion, in my opinion. Same kind of messages he's tried to convey with Tool, we are all one human body and are to live as one, only then will we live in paradise or "heaven on earth." |

It's really hard to take this album seriously because it is supposed to be somewhat of a humorous album, but this one actually looks like it may be from Maynard's childhood past. |

This song to me is about Maynard's relation with his mother Judith. Just from the lines "Eyes of a fallen angel, eyes of a tragedy."As most of you APC/Tool fans know, Maynard's mother was paralyzed for 27 years. In his Tool song Wings For Marie/10,000 days, he speaks of his mother as a divine being(Fallen Angel). and She was paralyzed(Tragedy). Also hints the line "Here I am expecting just a little bit, Too much from the wounded." Because she was struggling so much with her paralysis, Maynard didn't feel he got enough attention, and when he did, she looked down upon the things he had done, and even passed them off as malign. But yet, he kept trying to show her all the things he had accomplished but she kept brushing it off. I see it this way because I have the same relationship with my mother. I can truly relate to this song. I don't see any relationship with the song meaning and "3 Libras" though. |
