| Tune-Yards – FIYA Lyrics | 15 years ago |
|
when a girl feels so alone what a tease to throw a bone should've just stayed at home when a girl feels so alone why'd you think i'd put out your fire? why'd you think i'd put out your fire? don't you know i breathe in fire? breathe out fire? what if my own skin makes my skin crawl? what if my own flesh is suburban sprawl? what happened between us makes sense if i'm nothing you are all if i am nothing at all why'd you think i'd put out your fire? why'd you think i'd put out your fire? don't you know i breathe in fire? breathe out fire? you are always on my mind (x4) they are dying outside, they are dying outside and you lied i am not beautiful i am not beautiful i am in bloom as the world goes underground and i am not beautiful and i am not magic yet but i am in bloom at the end of the world |

| Bonnie 'Prince' Billy – What's Missing Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| could be, but im pretty sure its "under sail". as the expressions to 'pull the anchor' or to 'set sail' mean to start something (not necessarily a journey on a boat), 'under sail' means to be in motion. | |

| Modest Mouse – Little Motel Lyrics | 19 years ago |

it is definitely a breakup song... but i dont think they are waiting for love or death, well maybe death, but not literal death-- death of a relationship. i think they are both waiting to forget. i see this in the very firrst verse: "I hope that you like it in your little motel and I hope that the suite sleeps and suits you well well I can see it as time and a sight through smell and thats why its nice to be by yourself" specifically the last line, so they are waiting for it to be nice to be without the other. you know that shitty feeling after a breakup, where you know that it just wont work, even though you want it to? and you just have to wait it out til you can forget about them/ happy to be with out them? thats what i think this song is about. in the last verse he says: "before we had made a wish that we would be missed If one another just did not exist" they are both wishing that the other didnt exist, but at the same time they want the other to miss them when they arent together, cuz you feel better if you know that they miss you as much as yuo miss them. cool song, but i still think the greatest break up song ever is she ionizes and atomizes |

| Modest Mouse – We've Got Everything Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| i think he is being extremely sarcastic, saying that we have an explanation for everything, know how everything works, how the world turns etc etc. so he is saying that since we "know everything" there is nothing left to learn so we might as well push our car into the sea or pass out drunk in a car.... i see this as a very sarcastic song saying basically, yeah well, "science is shit". (props to tenserock on the quote) | |

| Modest Mouse – People as Places as People Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| definitely my fav song on the new album (which kicks ass by the way)... i cant find anything in the song relating it to a romantic break-up, i see it more of a searching for a sense of self, which goes along with his restlessness. perhaps you could link it to a breakup, but there is a much larger theme here. i hate to say that its just another soul-searching song for issac, because its not-- this song is different, brock is a changed man, he hints that he has found himself in the last line. | |
