How is it underrated if it was selected for his Greatest Hits album that went 11x platinum?
Anyways, I agree with that comment about it being more of a Makaveli: 7 Day Theory feel to it. |

This is the band Robbers that opened up for Brand New over the summer? I regret not purchasing any of their music because it's been hard to come across it. Can you help me out with obtaining it? If I could purchase it, I would. What's their official website? They're a great band. |

While I believe everyone can make valid points to their interpretations of what this song means, I am leaning towards the lyrics using the Earth, sun and sky as metaphors for two lovers. Sure, there can be huge comparisons drawn from referencing the Earth, etc. in a way that one would interpret it as a religious context but I think, if anything, they sound spiritual and therefore maybe agnostic and not Christian. Saying something like "You'll find me in the Earth" (presumably after death) isn't that of a Christian believer. Lastly, I think that if you're going to assume a band or a song is about religion then you should assume just that - Religion. Unless of course, the band tells of their ideals and beliefs as a band such Underoath did. That's like saying Thrice is a Christian rock band because of some of their lyrics their songs since their start as a band.
I hope I made sense. For the record, this is my opinion. |

One thing music fans need to realize is that art is personal and an artist almost always never wants to tell or deal with explaining what it means. All types of art. So just because Adam or any singer of a band begins to explain what a song is about, just don't expect it to simply be the truth. Not calling him or anyone else a liar, it's just a ploy to get you to think the song means one thing when it means something totally different. But of course they COULD be telling you the truth as well. TRUST ME, I know. ;-] |

I would like to say one more thing. If you didn't catch it in the unscripted opening then you should of realized it with the open line, "I wouldn't sell my belt to industry..." meaning the music industry and the media in general utilize musicians' mental illnesses to make a couple of bucks. They did it to Jimi Hendrix, Ian Curtis (Joy Division), Kurt Cobain, etc. And Max wouldn't sell himself out to a major label where they would use his mental illness as a ploy to make money. "His lyrics are so talented. His bi-polar swings are expressed in 'Yellowcat (slash) Redcat". Of course it was inevitable because the media wears down and tears apart every and anything they want. It's a shame because having a mental illness isn't a gift.. |

Thank you, returnsandexchanges. I completely agree with you. First and foremost, music fans quickly associate music with religion too quickly. If the song has any biblical references, that does not make it a 'Christian' song. Max cites religion in sarcastic ways throughout the album but the general consensus is that his sarcasm leans against the conformity of religion. Underoath, especially old Underoath lyrics are written specifically Christian driven. The whole thing with the belt being his father's once was hit right on the mark except mental illnesses (some) skip a generation but he wasn't trying to be too technical rather just express it. Of course there doesn't have to be one underlying meaning in a song. I agree with many of you and the references of rebellion towards government. Not specifically capitalism but any crooked government (music industry) that governs society, stripping them of their integrity creativity.
I hope I made sense. I think I did.
By the way, Hebrew is a language and being Jewish is a religion. Jesus Mary Joseph Allah Ghandi David Christ, how can people be THAT ignorant? LOL |

| Thursday – Time's Arrow Lyrics

This song is obviously about domestic abuse.. particularly child abuse. From what the song, in my opinion, portrays is a father who hit his kid and he regrets what he has done but it's a reoccurs often. All the lyrics are too self-explanatory, something we don't see too often from Geoff as a songwriter but it's easily accepted because it's still brilliant. This band has reinvented themselves and I couldn't be more content with the new album. Still my favorite band today. I'll be buying it on 2/17. |

Jay-Z should know that he has the kudos from the people that really matter... the fans. Fuck the magazines, TV, internet, news reels and radio stations. Dead or alive, I know where Jay-Z stands, up there with Biggie and 2Pac, in no particular order. He's just one of the great ones. |

| Thursday – I Am The Killer Lyrics

After all these years, I don't understand why Thursday isn't respected by EVERY promoter, band, music fan, record label owner. How much longer will we have bubble-gum bands on top of the music industry? Thursday's music is so hard hitting and truely emotional.. not the emo type of emotional where a lyricist writes lyrics to fulfill the ears of and the band backs with petty-written music for false fans of this scene/genre and all the sub-genres thereafter. Geoff writes such important lyrics of all types of situations that when the band's amazing heart-pounding music mesh's with it you can place yourself in the body of the song and it becomes you. Amazing. This post of 'why?' also goes out to those of this generation who won't shut up about classic rock. I like classic rock a lot. I have so much respect for it. I come from a big family spawning from different age groups thus different generations of music but c'mon everyone.. show homage to your generation or there won't be anything to be proud of in our generation of music.
Thursday: one of the greatest bands today and ever. My favorite. |

Another great song by a great band. |

No, it's not 'fuckin mess' its forgiveness. It most likely is because the next line after that goes hand in hand. "i offer you no forgiveness, not even in dreams" would make more sense than "i offer you fuckingness, no even in dreams" It's just the way announciates the word. Anyways, I guess we will have to wait until the 30th. I'm stoked because Thursday is still great! |

Thanks jonneh! I took most of what you said I hear minor differences but I think it's right for the most part. We'll wait 5 more days for the booklet. I did the best I could 2 weeks ago when I first got the album and haven't changed it since. Anyways, I'm posting 'Panic On The Streets Of Health Care City'. You're more than welcome to post any edits you think of that song next. Anyone, obviously.
As far as what this song means to me. It's obviously about drinking and what pill goes best with alcohol? Painkillers. ::sigh:: This song means so much to me. It's hard to see who's trying to help you and then when you reach rock bottom and you look at yourself in the mirror you kind of have a realization of how wrong you've been BUT being an alcoholic makes you have split personality in a way and you lose sight of person you really are. Sober or drunk. |

I can't express in words the feeling I get when I hear this song. Underoath is a great band. I've been a fan for 5 years or really close to that and its great to see that people still listen to older stuff. I like Spencer but pre-Spencer seems extinct almost. Define the Great Line wasn't at par with They're Only Chasing Safety... at least in my opinion. |

This song gives me shivers everytime I listen to it. Thursday is my favorite band of all-time in my generation and probably for the rest of my life. No band writes about more important, diverse issues in the world and/or in a person's life. The meaning of the song is so depressing and sad that it's beautiful to me.
And as far as the comment before mine: I don't think it's about that. I've searched for any facts about your statement and as far as I can tell, you pulled that one as an assumption. |

i am like 97% sure that the word is LIGHT and not LIFE in the line:
"tomorrow is much too late
i need you now
be my ______
tomorrow is much too late
i need you now"
It's kind of obvious since he exaggerates the letter T at the end of the word Light. |
