Slipknot – Prosthetics Lyrics 17 years ago
the song is based on the movie the collector, which is an adaption of the book by john fowles of the same title. however, in the collector, the kidnapper does not have a sexual fascination with his victim, but he is in love with her; is not the smartest man, and he is also very socially awkward, and he is unable to approach her at all. one day he decides to kidnap her and keep her in a secure room in his basement in hopes that if he keeps her long enough, she will love him back and they will be able to form a normal life together. he never rapes her, and he does not actually kill her at all; as a matter of fact, he never does/tries to have sex with her at all, either. in the one part of the book where she attempts to seduce him in an effort to save herself, he finds the idea of her doing so to be repulsive and begins to lose all respect for her.

so the song is a variation on the story; it makes it more sinister, but i also think that it cheapens the story by turning a psychological masterpiece into almost another horror story.

i do like the song and its creepy aura very much.

The Dear Hunter – Where The Road Parts Lyrics 17 years ago
after he catches ms. leading with another man (Red Hands), his heart is broken and he breaks it off with her. but now, ms. leading is in love with the dear hunter, and she wants to meet him where they met, where the road parts.
the line isn't "maybe where the road parts"
it's "meet me where the road parts"
this song is written from the alternate perspective of ms. leading.
the bit about the ego makes me think that she's talking about her profession... rather than for love, she sleeps with men for money, so it's her ego, not her heart guiding her.
also, i think "you're the only one that didn't fold" means that the dear hunter did not show up when she asked him to meet her, so she's saying that he didn't give into his love/lust for her because she hurt him so badly, even though others might.

Marilyn Manson – Count to Six and Die (The Vacuum of Infinite Space Encompassing) Lyrics 19 years ago
i think tht the song is one of manson's deepest. it seems to be about how life can make you want to die and there are differentways to do tht...quick like a gun or a jump off a tall building, or slowly like when ppl take drugs and drink to fool themselvesinto feeling better. the angel in the lobby waiting to put him in line might refer to the bulet in the chamber of the revolver, waiting malignantly for its turn so it can kill. the russian roulette might symbolize the fact tht death is scary and even tho ur willin to take your life, a bit of a surprise mite b better.

srry for thhe AIM language, but im a bit pressed for time

ok so the vacuum of infinite space encompassing could be that death is an infinite waste tht no one is sure about and it can eat you up .....dying.
