Not the most creative and poetic lyrics that we've heard from Stephan, but still powerful in their own sense. I like most of the other symbols for American fake-ness, but non-dairy creamer almost seems a little forced. It works, but perhaps doesn't flow right? Besides the lyrical critique, still a good song overall. Captures a lot of truths about America right now, and when people really listen to it it makes a lot of sense. I personally can't wait for a girl with implants and an STD to hear this song, have no idea what it's about, and love it because its catchy and popular. That will be the epitome of what this song is about. |

i cant stand country its all so boring and lame and meaningless........ boooooring..... but this is a great song. its a little country-esque but still catchy and i actually like it. ya i think is a religious song too |

such, such, such a good song. response to Default, although Icarus is pronounced a little different i think and it does kind of sound like "but the rest", i still think its Icarus. One, it makes a perfect example/metaphor, and two, because after "(Icarus/But the rest) is not a t-shirt or a swan song," its "HE is born again", referring back to Icarus. The line "I fall down on what to say, oh something clean, let me be clever, hey oh well whatever, but thats not what I mean" is perfect. Anyone who has ever tried to think of the perfect thing to say and then said something not so perfect knows exactly what he means. "Im still BLINDED, but im still staring down the sun" OOOH YEAAAAA, im still staring down the sun, OOH YEAAAAA, im still staring down the sun so much emotion, so good. so good. |
