Jason Mraz – I'm Yours Lyrics 17 years ago
This song is the perfect blend of musical and lyrical genius. So simple, and he has such a great voice. And I am honestly shocked by how amazing the lyrics are. The song is about losing yourself in trying to give off an appearance. he's saying that we should stop caring what people think/how we look, etc... "rid yourself of vanity"... and just to be ourselves. love it. i love the bridge so much... such an amazing song!!

Coldplay – Lost! Lyrics 17 years ago
I love this song. It really is excellent, both lyrically and the music too. I love how it's so simple but so powerful at the same time. That is often the ingredient to a great Coldplay song. I absolutely love the lines: "You might be a big fish/In a little pond/Doesn't mean you've won/'Cause a long may come/A bigger one." That part is excellent. I'm actually waiting for my brother to bring the rest of the album home... I couldn't resist so I downloaded Lost because I loved the thirty second iTunes preview ;-). Anyways, just based on what I've heard off of the album so far--Violet Hill, Viva La Vida, and Lost--I'm sensing some underlying kind of themes behind this album. First of all, this song definitely seems to be touching on war. Obviously this song can be understood in any way you want it, but by using the imagery of guns and rivers--that in addition to the imagery in Violet Hill--seems to suggest that Martin is referring to war. I don't interpret it that way when I listen, I have a more general understanding of what it means--feeling behind sometimes, but knowing that you deserve to, and ultimately will, come out ahead. But I feel like war might be a big thing with this album. Also, I like what people said about how the narrator of this song could be the narrator of Viva la Vida. It's like he's handing over his crown, because he realizes, just because I'm not king and I'm not in the spotlight/succeeding at every moment, and I might not be so great right now, doesn't mean I won't succeed in the end. Nice interpretation poorlilrockstar* :). Can anyone confirm if these are themes that come up on this album? I'm not getting my hands on this album until 1:00 AM and I'm starving for more coldplay, lol

Coldplay – Violet Hill Lyrics 17 years ago
i too think it's an anti-war song. it's just describing the horrors of war, especially how he refers so much to snow and rifles. the banks turning into cathedrals and the fog turning into God is a metaphor, i think, for the idea that wherever you turn, all you can do is pray that you'll survive. it also just shows how different war is once youre actually a part of it... he says how the future is run by "idiots on show"-- no one who supports war actually understands what its like to be in one. the part that gets me the most is the "took my live to violet hill" little stanza. the girl is silent and still, but because the guy is a soldier, she may not have many more chances to say anything to him. so its saying how important it is to just tell a person how you feel before its so late. it shows how people take so many things for granted, but with a soldier, any moment can be their last. i don't know if i just made much sense or was clear enough, its kind of late now, but i think that's what the song is saying. and i really, really like it.

The 88 – Head Cut Off Lyrics 18 years ago
Another great song by the 88. I might be totally off, but I think this song is about losing someone and being realy confused and upset. The chorus is just saying how he's losing it, and everyone sees how much it's landing on him. The second verse seems to be him writing a song about it, but he can't even find the words to say because nothing can describe what he is feeling.

Also, when he says at the end "Call of your cop/beg him to stop/show him i'm not that way", I think he is using "the cop" to represent the part of the girl he's speaking to that doesn't want him anymore, and trying to convince that part of her to let him in.

Bowling for Soup – Epiphany Lyrics 18 years ago
I think it's about the way people portray the idea of love, and how not everyone can find that in their lives. It's saying that he doesn't need a girl that fits his empty frame exactly, rather hee'll settle with anyone who can just make him feel better and enoy life. Even if it's not what people consider to be an ideal relationship, he just ants to find anyoen he can be happy with, anyone who cane show him something extraordinary.

i dont like the suicide thing, i think the point is the person is willing to leavethe past behind and is asdking someone to do whatever it takes toget them on track.

The 88 – Battle Scar Lyrics 18 years ago
I think this song is about being with a lot of guys simply for a reputation. The girl being described finds herself with many guys, but deep down unhappy with every one of them. And after a while, the girl begins to realize how lonesome she is, and begins to find herself in a "sea of emotion". Npot sure exactly but this song is great.

The 88 – Coming Home Lyrics 18 years ago
This song is brilliant, really. I love The 88. They have a great sound and really put a lot of meaning into the lyrics but at the same time manage to make the songs fun. This is a great song. Though it can have more than one meaning, I think it's about simply wanting someone to come back. Even though it's been years., and the person probably established his or her own new "home", it would be so nice for he or she to return home to you and it could be like before, when things were simple. It's just that feeling of after someone close moves out, you want him back after a long time so it could be like it once was.

This song is amazing, musically and lyrically. The maning is pretty clerar, but the lyrics are really awesome. And the tune is quite catchy. Props to The 88. this song and the whole album is amazing. I also love "Howq Good it Can Be" from their other album.

The 88 – How Good Can It Be Lyrics 18 years ago
It's hard to get it down exactly, and some of the lines are hard, but I think it's just telling a girl to relax and lay back for a little while. The girl seems to be afraid and always running around to avoid a relationship, but the summer is here and she shouldn't have to worry. He'll show her how good it can be - not in a physical sense, more of him just saying you don't have to be worried or afraid.

Keane – Walnut Tree Lyrics 18 years ago
I think this song is about holding onto someone even when it's clear that the person is gone. It's about waiting at a spot which you and that person feel most comfortable, in this case a walnute tree. Even though the person has been gone for a a while, you continue to wait. And there's that question of why. Why do you go to that place? Why do you find yourself living in the past and among those memories? The reason is because the connection between you and that person was so strong. There was such a great relationship between you and that person that you're under a spell in which you can't let go and have to keep holding onto those memories to the point that they take over your life. Unfortunately, though, you know that what you had with that person was a long time ago, and you can only wish that the person was still with you now. Nonetheless, you continue to wait. You continue to wait in that same place, regardless of the fact that the person will not come back to join you. Because holding on so strongly to the point that you wont accept that the person is gone is much better than accepting that it's time to let go.

Kanita, your interpretation was very good as well.

Jet – Come On Come One Lyrics 18 years ago
The correct lyrics for the chorus are as follows:
"Come on, come on,
I don't need anyone
To tell me what to believe.
Come on, come on,
Shout it out everyone,
You can't tell me what to believe."

This song basically says how a person is surrouded by people who care about him but expect certain things of him. However, the person will take what he needs from these people surrounding him but he will not let them get in the way of doing what he wants. They can't tell him what to do/believe, and even if theys hout it out at him he refuses to listen. Awesome song, probably my favorite of the new album.

Jet – Stand Up Lyrics 18 years ago
"Too bored to live and too young to die"
Life does not have enough to offer to this person.

"You get too tall they'll cut you down to size"
Everytime he or she goes after what he or she wants, there is someone in the way who cuts them back down to size and takes that away from him or her.

"TV fear sells brand new cars"
People want and expect this person to do something different with his or her life; in this case it's selling cars.

"But my love lives with my guitar"
However, this person has dreams of his or her own, and that is music.

"Easy to feel that free
when you know what you want to be"
It should be easy to feel free if you're sure of what you want to do with you're life. This line seems to be a hint/implication that the person should completely disregard what people say and think if he or she is so sure of what his or her dream is.

"Stand up, your time has come back around
Stand up, there's nothing holding you down
Walk on, with your feet off the ground"
Again, this is telling the person to ignore what people say and think of his or her dreams and let nothing hold him or her back from following the dream he or she has.

"How they gonna stop you now?
How they gonna stop you now?"
Once the person moves past whether or not people approve, nothing will stop him or her.

"So you learn to live
or you'll learn to lie
Just don't sit and
watch the world go by"
This verse seems to be the songwriter telling the person to do whatever it takes to accomplish his or her goal, whether it means ignoring other people's judgements and doing what he or she wants, or resorting to lying to do what the person wants to do. Either way, the person should not sit and watch the world go by.

"TV fear sells brand new cars
But my love lives with my guitar
Easy to feel that free
When you know what you want to be"
Again, it should be easy to be free if you know what you want to do, so the person must eliminate anyone who doesn't approve of his or her dream and be completely free.

"Stand up
your time has come back around
Stand up
there's nothing holding you down
Walk on
with your feet off the ground"
Again, after the person gets rid of the people who have been trying to stop him or her from reaching that dream, the person can stand up with nothing holding them down.

"How they gonna stop you now?
How they gonna stop you now?
How they gonna stop you now?
Never gonna stop you now."
And then, asks the songwriter rhetorically, how will anyone stop him?

"I said stand up
Don't sit back down
I said stand up
Don't sit back down"
The songwirter is continuing to push the person to stand up and go for his or her dream.

"They got the mouth,
we got the soul
Come on now honey
won't you let it roll"
All they've got are big mouths and they'll continue to tell the person what to do, but the person is the one who knows what's in his or her self, and that is the ability to reach his or her dream.

"You got the move
don't hang around
Come on honey
can you hear me now?"
A continuation of the last four lines, this time asking if the person understands what he or she is being told. And the rest of the song is basically repetitions of all old lines.

Can you hear me now?
Can you hear me now?
Can you hear me now?
Can you hear me now?
Can you hear me now?
Can you hear me now?
Can you hear me now?

Stand up
Stand up

Stand up, your time has come back around
Stand up, there's nothing holding you down
Walk on, with your feet off the ground

How they gonna stop you now?
I said, how they gonna stop you now?
How they gonna stop you now?

This is a solid song, musically and lyrically. It's definitely one of my favorites of the album.
