the lunatic is a metaphor describing a split personality or "other side" of a person."the lunatic on the grass is talking about how insane people don't do things the way that society thinks they should be.conformity is mentioned where it says "got to keep the loonies on the grass."the paper holds there folded faces to the floor and everyday the paperboy brings more" is talking about the guy who is bringing them trips and everyday he bring more around.rasing tthe blade and making the change is talking about therapy and how it just shuts these people out even more without helping them.the problem is still there.the follow up song eclipse is basically just a big whole life summary that leaves me thinkin alot about life, everything.totally trip out stuff.pink floyd are kinda deep thought philosophers if that makes sense lol. |

A man enters a bar and orders a drink.the bartender then pours out the drink and the "my hand decided that the time was nigh" means he expected to get his drink but "for a moment it slipped from view and when it returned it fairly burned with confidence anew" means his drink was spiked (probly coke) and it turned him insane and he went on a killing spree.he viewed himself as a kind of angel of death, as mentioned before by other people, and his blazing wings are either a hallucination or a metaphoric term used to describe the power and rush he had of being in control of life like he was now beyond human. describing how his hand looked almost human shows how he was coming down off the drug but was still fukked up mentally but couldn't bring himself to kill himself. he didn't want to die....he didn't want wat he had just done to 9 other people in the bar so he gave himself up. |

Emily is a girl (probly imaginary) who "tries but misunderstands" in other words this chick takes a trip and doesn't realise the gravity of the drug. She's trippin hardcore and she stares at the trees in sorrow for no reson she's floating on a river for wat feels like forever. I think its free games for me not may as if Syd Barrett is watching her doing all this crazy stuff and he's saying that she's losing her mind at play (in other words trippin out to the max and becoming detached from reality itself.)just wat i think but i reckon it makes sense.... |
