The drunk kids & catholics is a metaphor. He's not calling catholics drunks, but simply stating that they both share an appetite for salvation. Another theory i had was that death is inevitable, and this could mean accepting it, maybe even looking forward to it. Also the when he speaks of the ocean, he could be refering to how the depths have as much clarity as the afterlife, and people believe in it, so they illustrate it to the world by 'painting in the caves', and maybe connor cannot take part in this because he is preoccupied with more important matters or thoughts. LOL idk, just some ideas :) |

I know this has nothing to do with it, but whenever i hear this song i think of Anne Frank? Also WWII in general, like the line 'Solids changing into light, With a burst of heat so bright' makes me think of hiroshima/ the atomic bombs and such. beautiful song. conor is truly amazing. |
