| I tend to think this song refers to David Koresh form Waco, TX. That was just the impression I got, especially lines like "get off you're fucking cross; we need the fucking space to nail the next fool martyr." I think it's an attack on religious nuts/cult leaders in general. | |

| i agree with whysogreenandlonely and skatesa207. it's all about lonliness and being mind-fucked by society or a love interest. this song always reminds me of the vulnerability i have felt from having feelings for a lady; especially one u can't be with for whatever reason. scatterbrain is such a good word for this day and age; at least for me. | |

| well said: ladingstill and sweatersdotcom; i couldn't say it any better "let down" is such a beautiful song and definitely one of my favorites; the first song i ever heard from ok computer and what really drew me in deeper to radiohead's music. the brilliance of this song to me, is that it is a sad reaization and a liberating awakening all at once. it's a rainy day song, but the sun is shining also. u know what i mean? that might sound cheesy but, it's what i feel. this song is fucking brilliant! | |

i get the feeling is about being overly ambitious with a career as to subject yourself to burnout and forget the important things in life. just like the song says: "slow down, idiot." live a good life and take the time to enjoy the good simple things like friends and family or even the sunset. i get the impression of a stressed-out workoholic lawyer who is working himself to death and whose own dog barks at him when he comes home b/c he hardly recognizes him anymore;"it barks at no one else but me, like it's seen a ghost." i also think this song could be applied to anyone living in the modern world as a reminder to take time to relax enjoy life. i think the song addresses the feelings of the yuppie workoholic, big business, competitive, fast -paced stress of the modern world. certainly we all need to work and make money so that we can enjoy our lives, but we also need to remmeber to actually enjoy our lives or to savor the peaceful times. my favorite moment in this song is the second verse when the words "sometimes i get over charged" are sung. time seems to stand still when i hear this song especially at this point in the song; it is a beautiful musical moment of bliss and clarity; a feeling that is crated by the space and calm of the music at this point; where we are left with primarily the angelic blissful vocal harmony. lyrically a moment of introspection by the main character realizing that he desperately needs to relax or "slow down" and gain control over his life. i guess this song is simpy about gettin a grip. |
