It seems pretty clear this is an anti-suicide song. Even though the song is still quite sad, it is pretty refreshing to hear. It seems like a lot of bands these days are pumping out songs simply about dying or killing oneself, but here's a song that says "don't do it!" I think a message can be found in this song telling people on the edge to remember that no matter how bad they feel their life has become, there is always someone out there who loves them and would certainly "scream in the night" for them to not jump and remember the people who love them. |

Crystalized Lung, Kip Kinkel was NOT inspired to do what he did by this song. I know I'm responding to something that was posted about two years ago, but I feel that I really need to. For those of you who don't know, Kip Kinkel was a high school student who killed his parents and two of his classmates after being expelled from school for having a gun on campus. And no, he did not set up bombs in his house. It is true that The Reflecting God was Kip Kinkel's favorite song, but it di not inspire him to kill. The reason why he killed was out of shame, depression, and a possible case of schizophrenia. |
