The part about the underwear is a metaphor. It’s kind of getting at that she is also looking for sex in this… “sexual deviants but julian would never understand And doesn't he know? Just because he's a painter and he loves you It doesn't mean that he has got a clue” They are lovers that aren’t supposed to be discovered, and her husband has no clue that this is going on. “about my thumbelina I've never seen a pair of digits quite like yours, before and I have traveled shore to shore in such arduous pallor your almost perfect body's got me quivering in a ball” He means that he thinks her fingers/toes are pretty and he has been all over the world and ‘arduous pallor’ means to be very pale. So he’s in love. Which isn’t what she wants from him…just sex. “To that brass cowgirl with her hands petting your crotch and humping you in towering grass naked and gender bending” They are having sex here in the middle of a field. What he means by brass cowgirl is that she is riding him like a horse. Pretty nasty, but I didn’t write the song. “what makes you think that the two of your will last for there's no dame or man for her There's just this open road where she hails down some pervert with the usage of her giant thumb” This means that he’s saying what makes you think she loves you. She doesn’t want a man. She just wants to flag down the random ‘pervert’ and have a quick fuck. “but jelly bean you can never comprehend the intellect of her mind and just because you can make her come with your hand it doesn't mean she'll be your woman.” Now he’s more confident and say’s referring to the men that pick her up as jelly bean, since they are probably stupid, and that he is the only one who will get what she says and will love her, and she’ll never be yours. “But ‘twas a loon on the hillside planted a seed between your thighs You fancy him as your therapist but he's just a sadistic sodomist who gave you the bastard kid” This means that everything changed when she fucked that jelly bean, because sex is like a therapy for her and he’s the ‘therapist’. This line here tells you that she never saw the man who loved her again, after a little stop in ‘the jelly bean’s pants. “you were one step behind in that dismal school of mind” This means that the person they are talking about was behind in some school, that was more like a popularity contest. “we were so charming the future was alarming but now don't you go look so proud 'cause guess who's laughing now” This means that these guys had it all, but things are starting to change. “and we've learned that life is one big game where the winners are all getting paid so stop dragging your feet behind you can't live with your folks all your life.” This means that the winners of this game, are the ones who have it all, and since the rest are lagging behind, they are the losers. “start a band, throw a brick you lazy hipsters make me sick” This mean that all you have to do to be famous is start a band and and be ‘bad’ and that it would be okay if others did all the work, like record companies. And people like them. “ don’t clap your hands don't start to dance don't let them know that you're a fan” This is directed at the audience to not give them any support because they don’t deserve it. “cause you may be playing your music loud but it's drowned out by your mouth” This means that all those bands may have good chords, but all of that is destroyed be what comes out of their mouth. This song is basically about how bad the music scene is, and this song is for people who want a change. This is a good song. Fall Out Boy made their own version of the same issue, but personally, I think they are a group of those ‘lazy hipsters’ and they ‘make me sick’. Nobody can do a song like this better than nightmare of you! |

This is a tough one…but bear with me…plus it’s my opinion…you don’t like it then write what you think and want to hear. “Well they encourage your complete cooperation Send you roses when they think you need to smile I can't control myself because I don't know how And they love me for it honestly I'll be here for a while” The verse is about being in the hospital about to die. This shows that the song is sarcastic right away by Gerard’s tone of voice. “So give them blood, blood Gallons of the stuff” I think he’s saying he wants you to give blood, for him and the other patients to survive. “Give them all that they can drink and it will never be enough” He makes the ever-so-famous reference to vampires. They will always ask for more, when you’ve given all you’ve got. “Give them blood, blood, blood Grab a glass because there's going to be a flood.” He is talking about him and the patients. “A celebrated man amongst the gurneys” I guess he has been on a stretcher for a long time…and people know him now. ”They can fix me proper with a bit of luck” I guess they can only wish for the best… ”The doctors and the nurses they adore me so But it's really quite alarming cause I'm such an awful fuck (why thank you!)” My favourite line…by mcr I guess it’s saying that they only like him, because he’s going to die, and they are being polite, and he finds it alarming cause nobody really likes…come on…he’s and awful fuck (it isn’t why thank you after ‘awful fuck’ it’s oh thank you) ”I'm the kind of human wreckage that you love!” He means that he’s a terrible guy that’s on his death bed, but no matter who he is, everyone loves him Wooh…that was hard… I love this song, but it’s hard to understand what he means. She watches cars go by until some man takes notice of her 'looks ans smile' and the apparent fact that she is a prostitute. "And if you want me, then I guess I want you." This means that if some guy stops and wants her, she has no choice but to want him back for the money. "Oh pretty baby. How could you?" This is what she says to all the guys who drive by and leave her... "Standing in the rain." It means that she's left out alone, and she likes it better when someone takes notice of her. When nobody does it feels like she's 'standing in the rain' "Milk carton mugshot baby. Missing since 1983." I think this shows that she ran away or was kidnapped. "2o years of dirty needles." She has abused many street drugs that come along with her job. "Raindrops running through my veins." She has used so many drugs it feels like raindrops are actually running through her. "No sun, my room has now become my hearse." She feels so dead inside, espacially since she can't see any sun from her room. "Cold sores. I'm beat. Got bruises on my feet." The bruises might be from high heels and she feels beat cause maybe she got hurt by her boss 'pimp' or a customer? "My pride, these men, have taken it from me." She feels dirty and unloved inside because of the fact that she's used as an object. “No good emotion, baby.” I think she’s really depressed… “Mother, I have lost my way.” I guess she must have ran away from home, and now she wishes she was back there. It’s kind of her saying sorry to her mom. This leaves the song on a real sad note. I love it though. Amazing song. -Steph- |
