| Art Brut – Post Soothing Out Lyrics | 18 years ago |

This song is hilarious. First off you have a character who is so drunk at noon (half way through her working day) he is sending wrong text messages. But then the lines: "River deep and mountain high There's some lyrics that'll never apply 'Cause I don't lie awake at night With thoughts of river depth or mountain height" He is pretty much making fun of any song writer who ever wrote a love song or a song asking for forgiveness and used this type of metaphor. |

This is one of the best songs of the year and no one has commented on it? Craziness. To me this song is the best I've heard written about the war on terror. First song is right after the war, the nation being united in pain watching shock and awe on their TV screens. Like a nation. The second verse is a couple years later when the war has lost popularity. Appears to now be about oil and money. Complete devastation. |

I think this song is about coming to the decision of leaving your home and family behind at a young age. "This once was an island" refers to the small town you grew up in or your house, while the "lights aways in season" is the allure of a big city as you get older and realize how big the world is. The second verse is after a couple months when big city life doesn't have that special allure it once had. Some stay in the city, some leave to go back home. The last four lines is someone trying to convince you to stay in the city. Your family might not want you back. Your parents long to see you come back home on your knees begging to stay with them. |

| Clap Your Hands Say Yeah – Satan Said Dance Lyrics | 19 years ago |

Well I always looked at this song as being a new picture of hell and taking the lyrics quite literally. Hell isn't this fiery place where Satan runs around with a whip torturing people for the fun of it. Hell is a place where you are forced do nothing but dance all night and day for the devil's amusement. Sounds like hell to me... |
