| Opeth – Deliverance Lyrics | 18 years ago |

I think its about someone who gets the sudden urge (possibly because he gets possessed by the devil?) to kill someone, specifically by drowning them. And because of this (or because he's possessed) he loses his deliverance. Really amazing and poetic song btw, the verse starting with "from love to death..." is just amazing, and the solo just before it is awesome. And yes the drumming at the end is pretty crazy. |

Socold - are those lyrics out of the album booklet thingee? I tried getting them just by listening and I got "As life slowly unravels With nothing to show but wasted time and dust A thousand points of light falling on The death that you know will come to the blind masses Rise above, extract your life." But im not sure if its right... And yeah i agree with most people here, its about some blue collar labourer busting his ass and getting jack shit out of it. |

| Opeth – The Funeral Portrait Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| I reckon ddadutta and sniper have the right idea for this one, thats definitely the sort of images it conjures up. I reckon the last bit, the clean sung one, may be from another person's point of view, like someone who has to deal with the people after he's finished with them. | |
| In Flames – Gyroscope Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| I reckon Robotnik33 might be onto something there, cause gyroscopes resist change in angle. The song's really cryptic, but it seems to be about how humanity's past is, for the most part, a huge collection of failures, and we dont seem to intent on changing that. | |

strokeslot has a good interpretation there, just listen to the music with your eyes shut and see what your mind conjures up! theres some amazing and terrifying imagery here. i see an iraqi city at night, with american soldiers positioned outside. theres an explosion somewhere, and all of a sudden people start running around everywhere, including a civilian running towards the americans. they think he's a terrorist, and gun him down ruthlessly. this sends the people into even more panic, and the whole city erupts into a godzilla - movie style turmoil, with building burning, people shooting each other, and the screams of the maimed and the mourning erupting into the night... its scary stuff, and powerful too. the entire song is a masterpiece. |

| Lamb of God – A Devil In God's Country Lyrics | 19 years ago |

i reckon decc's on the right track. check this out Down south soldier, third world soldier - a soldier from down south, sent to a third world country to fight my vengeance will be swift and terrible, many will die - he's got a vendetta for some reason, like maybe one of his friends got killed or somehting then for a while he's just talking about how he wants to take vengeance. drop the coins and send you to charon - charon was the ferryman who ferried people accross the river styx in greek mythology, and on the other side of the river was tartarus, the greek hell. people used to be buried with coins to pay for the ferryman, so he's talking about killing someone here, sending them to hell in the process. the rest of the song's just more about killing. i think its called a devil in gods country for one of 2 reasons: either thats how the enemy views this soldier, or thats how he views himself, cause after all he is a killer, and he is in the traditional "holy land" PS LoG rock so damn hard! and not just randy, the whole crew. the guitars rule! the drums are absolutely crazy!!! Rock on!!!! \m/ \m/ PPS i agree with everyone who insulted threechairsblack. you are an arrogant dick, just the kind of elitist, self righteous fuckwit that LoG profess to hating, and with good reason. suck my balls. |

| Lamb of God – Terror & Hubris In The House Of Frank Pollard Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| i agree with a lot of you guys, i reckon its about weird things that happened in in this guys house, probably after getting drunk and maybe doing drugs or something, cause the lyrics have some pretty weird imagery in them | |
| Lamb of God – Ruin Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| I reckon its about people's avarice for power corrupting them, and this corruption eventually bringing about the end of the world through like a nuclear holocoust or something. thats why its the end of all prgress and the death of evolution, cause we get wiped out, or something like that | |

OK this song is definitely about killing someone. Someone who has done the narator harm, probably a woman who cheated on him or decieved him somehow. It sets the scene: a cold, misty morning (break of morning, coldness lingers on... mist ripples round your thin white neck). Basically the first part of the song is about him approaching the victim, and his thoughts as he does so. The he shoots / stabs her in the chest and holds her as she dies, resulting in "you're close to the final word you're staring right past me in dismay a liquid seeps from your chest and drains me away" then he carries her away through the mist, and it flows around them (as mist does) "mist ripples round your thin white neck "and draws me a line cold fingers mark this dying wreck this moment is mine" with that last line hinting that the moment is his for revenge or something. then he psychologically snaps (well even more so than he already had) with "night falls again, taking whats left of me" finally she dies "slight twist, shivering corpse ornated with water, fills the cracks clasped in my limbs by tradition this is all you need" the line "ornated with water..." makes me think he's possibly dumping the body in a river. also, the line "clasped in my libs by tradition" i think could have 2 meanings, he's either referring to her, because they used to be together, or that he's referring to the fact that he's holding a body again, as in he's like a serial killer or something. the latter is probably the better explanation, as a lot of other people tended to think so, and that this was the case with other songs from the album, and apparently the album has numerous songs about this serial killer, so maybe this is yet another. |
