| Linkin Park – The Little Things Give You Away Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
I find that this song has more of a double meaning, if interpreted correctly. As it was stated in the album booklet, this song is about Hurricane Katrina. By observing the lyrics it sounds like a dying victim, more particularly a drowning one, and all of their hope is fading. To help clear things up, the part where it says "All you've ever wanted/Was someone to truly look up to you/And six feet underwater/I do" it sounds like the drowning person has finally turned to President Bush or the entire nation itself for help, even through all of their hatred or oppression for it. It's only now in their dying moments do they realize that the people that they disagreed with for the longest of times were the only ones that would be able to help them. A little bit of remorse there, no? As for the second meaning, this one is more personal, and when I just heard a snippet of the song. I had thought it was about someone that you had looked up to and that person falls into a depression. You want to help them, but they can't see the help you're offering them. This interpretation is more metaphorical, as with the "drowning" and "underwater" could refer to suffocating emotions and such. A little bit more confusing, but I can understand this part just fine. Although, this second one is only my version, so I'll admit that it's not entirely true. Rori |

This song is awesome... in a way I wish it was longer because it's so cool, it's yet another one of those songs that reminds me ever so strongly of the desert. "Halt... Sieze the day... Achieve the impossible... Speaking without... There are no limits [x3]" That's my version of what the lyrics say, because I'm sure that everybody hears something different. Rori |

Thanks VisualShock for the info. My friend downloaded this song from a site, and now I can listen to it ^_^ This song isn't that bad, to be honest, and I find it to be one of the good ones on M2M. At first I was surprised to hear the voice, but then I realized it was Mike, but I find it to be very well. It makes me wonder if the rest of M2M's b-side songs are as good, because this song itself is exceptionally nice. Rori |

This song is pretty spectacular. Actually, most of the songs on their new album are. I support it, unlike the new Linkin Park album, which practically sucks.... The chorus is very lifting. The beginning, though, sounds a bit choppy and I wasn't the most fond of it, but as always, it grew on me. I love the part in the middle with the acoustic guitar, it was so different from the rest of their works. It's so symbolic. And it's true-- a lot of songs on "Fallen" were rather depressing. I like the sound of it, but I appreciate the change in Evanescence. It's a good one. Because Amy herself said that she was going through a phase, that the music was the only thing that she had control over, and it all went into the album. But with "The Open Door", she could do so much more with it. Go Evanescence! Rori |

Okay, creepy enough... why is that whenever I go on a Jhonen Vasquez binge, something on the internet I'm already looking at pops up unexpectedly? I'm definitely going to take a look at that video. It sounds freaking awesome, I love Johnny and Squee (but not as a couple). Thanks. As for the LP video itself, I find it inspiring. It was all drawn! I have the DVD for "Breaking the Habit" itself, and it shows all the behind the scenes on making the video. Really awesome. The band had originally wanted it to be live-action, but then Mr. Hahn put in his magic, and look at what masterpiece became of it! That's pretty much the only reason I like the video... the content in it was a little dull. I just like the drawings ^_^ Rori |

| Linkin Park – In Between Lyrics | 18 years ago |

I like how Linkin Park was stretching their styles musically, with Mike singing this song and all (interesting idea) but... MUSICALLY!!! NOT LYRICALLY!!! As someone had mentioned before, this is a poem, not a song. Throughout the whole thing it repeats over and over and over again, with the same damn beat, the same damn lines, and it just bores me to death! I can understand that if you repeat something over and over you can have meaning put into it, but I think it was overused in this song. Perhaps that's just the sound of the song itself. But as for the meaning, I can't help but despise the way they've gone. Since when did LP start singing about boyfriend-girlfriend relationships? From what I've seen, they were always talking about everything else. Perhaps it's a change, I know that, and they were trying to branch out. Sure. But by singing about this love and crap, they've just gone down the same road as every other band. If you couldn't tell, I hate it. And for those of you who say that Linkin Park sounds less emo than they did before, with the screaming and all, I honestly have come to believe that this album makes them sound even MORE emo. Most radios and tv shows have already dubbed them in the sub-genre as emo... it's annoying. Rawr. Bite me if you don't like my review. Rori |

It really sounds like a child despising their parent. The parent, the child claims, was mean and hated them and in turn the child did as well, but when the kid grows up, they find that everything they've been denying turned them into the mean parent they never wanted to become. Rori |

| Linkin Park – Wake Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
I like this introduction, much like the introductions on Reanimation and Meteora. It is actually like waking up, because for a long time you're asleep, and then the rest of the music comes in and it's like, "BAM!" LP stated on an interview that they made this because it gave a whole new vibe for the album. But I do realize something-- On Hybrid Theory and Meteora (I guess Reanimation should count too), Mr.Hahn or whoever had their own instrumentals: "Cure for the Itch" and "Session", remember? So where is it on the new album? :[ Rori |

| 30 Seconds to Mars – From Yesterday Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
I just realized something... After looking at all of these comments and suggestions on what this song could be about, I've come to this one conclusion. They're all about people that have done something. A load of people claim that the story is about a soldier. A soldier who has fought and fought and remembers all of the terrible things that have been done to him. He has killed and is now tortured by the very thought of it. Another group of people say that it is about Ghengis Khan and/or reincarnation. That's also believable because they found the ability to recall memories that they don't want to remember. But it's there anyways, and there is nothing they can do about it. More people are also saying that it's a song about God, and how he created the world. They claim that he doesn't want to see the brutal violence that goes on in the world and therefore he tries to eliminate it, but fails. To some people, it also means about running away or escaping a conflict, like a criminal escaping from jail, or a boyfriend becoming tired of his girlfriend. Either way they are haunted by their pasts. So I was thinking... Maybe that is what this song is about. Actually being doomed by your past and wanting to turn away from it, but you can't. There's no way you can deny it. Because out of everything you've done there's no way to change it now, meaning that you're left to face your fears. Maybe that's what it's about. Rori the Rocker ps-- and it is "shit" in the second verse, because it's been bleeped out. And I believe it is "read the message shown" for the end of the chorus, because it doesn't make sense if he says "write the message". Why would you write a message if you don't want to? You would rather not read it. |

I thought the beginning of this song was neat. If they had extended the introduction to where it sounded like rain that would be really neat, but there's not much they can do about it now. And there are only a couple of lyrical mistakes, but it helps. Whatever sounds wrong, I guess, you can use your imagination to fill in, right? Cool. Rori |

| Linkin Park – No More Sorrow Lyrics | 18 years ago |

This song is awesome. Other than "What I've Done", I think this song comes the closest to how the original LP was. Although, my mom said it sounded like Green Day when she heard it >_> There just should be no more sorrow overall. Everybody's suffering because of the liars and the bastards out there that do bad things... and what the guy's saying is just a mere cry for liberation of all the bad stuff. Rori |

I actually was able to obtain Reanimation before Hybrid Theory... and I will admit that I find Reanimation to be the better album. Don't get me wrong, HT is tight as hell and I love it, but Reanimation really got me into LP. To me, Reanimation is kind of an extended version of HT. Like this song is the perfect example. The cello and the violin are superb and I love it, but I will never forget the intro to the orginal "Crawling"... When I look at this version of "Crawling", I kind of a see an end of the world theme.... or maybe that's just me. Or something else really depressing. It makes me think of an anime called "Wolf's Rain"... Rori |

| Linkin Park – Bleed It Out Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
Yeah... this song is rather upbeat. But the claps annoy me like hell. I am thinking, still though, that Mike doesn't get as much as he did on the previous albums. As I was sifting through the songs I thought to myself (when I heard this one), "Did they just put this song on here because Mike didn't get to rap enough?" And if so, then that's... stupid. But he does sing in "In Between". If anything, I love the chorus of this song. And yeah, it probably does have to do with the songwriting process. Rori |

| Linkin Park – Given Up Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
They DID do too many soft songs... if anything, this is the hardest one on the album, which I find rather dissappointing... I understand that they wanted something different but the only problem I think is that they're so different now that they lost something... There's defintely a lot less of Joe Hahn's work, and Mike's rapping. Once or twice as I was going through the songs I thought, "They just put that in there to give Mike a chance, didn't they?", which I found completely... bad. Sure, it gives a chance for the rest of the band to play, but they've always done that. Take the song "Faint" and "Lying From You" and even "By Myself". Those all had fantastic blends of guitar and Hahn, both balanced equally, as well as Mike and Chester. The old stuff was superb. Sure, I will admit that I got bored of it after a while, but that was only because I had listened to those songs so many times that I knew every single part, and when you know every single part, it gets... dull. I'm not talking about the sound itself. Just if you know every single lyric, the moment where the guitar comes in, the beat of the drum, everything like that that you can recall from heart... it just gets a little boring. So I was anticipating Minutes to Midnight for quite a while, hoping that something new and spectacular would come out. The new part came out all right, but the spectacular part... I'm not so sure about. Has anybody noticed that Mike actually did SING, not RAP on "In Between"? I found that just a teensy bit surprising. He doesn't sing that bad, although in an interview he said he does. ^_^ SONG MEANING: My bet is that the guy is sick of living his life because he's screwed it all up. The second verse really gets it with, "I don't know what to take", like as in drugs or something to make him feel better. And well, he does say, "I'm my own worst enemy", meaning that he's the one that did what he did to himself and that he's the only one that can change that. Well... I'm out. Rori OH! I almost forgot... Has anyone but me noticed that, lyrically, all the songs have the line, "No one cares" or "I don't care" or something like that? Because I did, and my immeadiate first thought was, "Dude... that's so emo!" Not that I'm calling them emo. It's just... that doesn't seem like LP would normally say. I don't know. They re-wrote the lyrics a bajillion times, so maybe they got lost in there and finally put, "Whatever, I don't care", and the end.... |
|
| 30 Seconds to Mars – Savior Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
Yikes, long explanations... I'll try to make mine short. It's a person trying to tell a group of people that he doesn't need their help because he's gone through more than they will ever know. The, "Until you..." parts lead onto that, saying that the people will never know until they go through it like he had. Whether it's depression or what, I don't know, it very well could be. There is also a number of relgious aspects in there too, but there's also a lot of that in 30 Seconds to Mars... which makes me wonder... Does anybody know what Jared Leto's religion is? He writes most of the songs, and from what I've examined along with a number of people, well... I'm just plain curious. Rori |

I thought this song was actually talking about a kid who didn't turn out like his parents or friends thought he would. He makes bad decisions because say, he made new friends, that influenced him. He realizes what he got himself into, and now that he's in it, he can't get out. Rori the Rocker |

| Linkin Park – By Myself Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
Well, I don't know. Everybody's saying it's about a mental disorder or trying to figure out who you are in the world, but to me it sounds like someone who's in the middle of a fight or watching one. The person doesn't know if they should go after the bullies or tell someone about them, but when it's finally over, they don't know what to do. That's... basically what it means to me. I prefer the one on Reanimation though. This one's just a little too slow for my liking. Rori the Rocker |

This is the sweetest remix yet! The video is one of the best examples of what computer animation can do! It reminds me so much of a videogame, like technology versus biology. So cool. And well, am I the only one that noticed those giant walking things (I don't know the name...) that looked like those giant walking things in "Star Wars"? And that the "hero" that was awakened by the glowing fairies looked like the hero from "Metroid Prime"? Either way, that is just plain fucking awesome. The original sucks. To be honest, I think I like LP's remix more than their original... but HT is still good. I can't wait for Minutes to Midnight! Rori |

| Linkin Park – What I've Done Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
This is what I posted as a MySpace bulletin about this song... Anyways, I heard LP's new song on the radio yesterday and was... a little dissappointed. If you go hear it, it's not like the LP you expect. I know that they were going for a different style, such as quieting down their numetal/rapcore/alternative sound and looking at classic '80's music. That's fine with me, but I heard their song, "What I've Done" and... it's a little weak. The entire reason they dropped the numetal sound was because numetal is commonly discriminated as being stupid, the idea of combining rap and rock sounding completely absurd. What's odd is that even if people made fun of it, so many were fans. Numetal bands include Korn, Deftones, Mudvayne, and even Disturbed. But now, because people make fun of it, most bands want to drop that name and sound. When it first came on the radio, I was like, "Who is this?" because it sounded so different. At first I thought it was Fall Out Boy or Panic! at the Disco, but sadly, it was Linkin Park. Now, they sound just like every other band out there, and for that I'm depressed. Fall Out Boy and Panic! are great, but as for LP I expected something else. I liked their sound, and I wanted them to stick with it, but nooooooooo. They just had to go find something else. It makes me mad. When their song, "Breaking the Habit" was released off of Meteora, LP had said specifically for that song that, "This is what Linkin Park will probably sound like in the future. It's different, and we like it..." So, I'm frankly just hoping that Minutes to Midnight album has more to offer than "What I've Done" does. Rori the Rocker |

| Breaking Benjamin – Breakdown Lyrics | 18 years ago |

Awesome song... it's about abuse of... something. My guess was that this dude had an alcohol problem and he beat his girlfriend or daughter or something and it's from his viewpoint. When he says "until my heart is black and blue", my guess is that he's saying that it's killing him that he has the problem and that he hates to hurt "her" because he can't control himself... But that first verse, when I heard it, it was... chilling... Rori |

| Evanescence – Sweet Sacrifice Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
"Fear is only in our minds/ Taking over all the time" Yeah, that's what's basically happening to all you people that don't like the new album. You're afraid that Evanescence will fall because of its new sound. In a certain way, I kind of look at is as Origin was an album for the summer, Fallen was an album for the winter, and The Open Door was an album for the fall. Don't ask me why, but it just... does! In an interview, Amy claimed that for the album Fallen, the music was the only thing she had control over since she was going through a depression. It went all into the music, and thus produced Fallen's sound (this was also with the aid of Ben). Now that she's over the depression she says that she has the ability to see in a different light. However, she also claimed that many of the new lyrics came from when she was a teenager. Sure, if you say the lyrics are crappy, that's only because half of them she wrote when she was younger. Only the actual sound of the band was different from Fallen. So there. Basically, all of you that hate the Open Door, hate the "new" Evanescence altogether. As for the song, it's one of the best. Basically speaks for the whole reason of beginning the new album, by saying that the past no longer matters and you can begin anew. Hell yeah. Rori |

Guys, it's freaking abuse. What she means by "I'm Sorry" is the fact that she upset the person that's abusing her, and here comes the abuse again. In the last verse, she's talking about how she understands what the abuser was going through and why they took it out on her and understands that it wasn't completely their fault. When she says, "And its not time ((I always thought it was till) I'm told/I am aware of what you mean by then/ I'm only ten years old" She's meaning that she just plain knows what's going to happen, along with referring to the "long december" and stuff in the first verse. I don't know why you guys are having trouble on dissecting this song... it's so straightforward. Rori |

| Evanescence – Lacrymosa Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
This song is freaking awesome. It was a redone version of Mozart's "Lacrimosa", and it simply turned out beautiful. The choir, the gigantic orchestra... pure genius. As for the meaning, I guess it's about how Amy (or whatever) feels bad and guilty for controlling someone's life and just wants to let them go now since she knew they were suffering. She's guilty, and that's what I see it as... but for the this song, the lyrics don't matter! If you stripped the voice of the song, it would be AWESOME!!! I wonder if they have a program that does that... Rori |

| Linkin Park – Breaking The Habit Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
Well, Chester did crystal meth in highschool. In an interview, he said that the first time he sang this song he nearly broke down to tears because it reminded him so much of his youth. Not only had he done meth, but apparently his parents had divorced at a young age and all throughout highschool he was bullied and harassed. Even if Mike wrote the song, he said that it was about a friend. And, well, Chester is his friend, isn't it? So why wouldn't it be about him? Even so, there have been some sources that say that Chester wrote the song, not Mike... but I'm going to say it's Mike because it was on the CD album. As for the video, as always, it kind of helps to explain things a little bit. The main character (Chester), knows all these people that are depressed around him and angry at themselves and commit self-inflicting crimes. He eventually kills himself to symbolize that that is what pain can do to you. To me, yeah sure, it is about trying to overcome harm to yourself. Not only that, but all the hurt and darkness you've gone through. It's about quitting what you've done and beginning anew. In the last chorus it says, "But now I have some clarity to show you what I mean", meaning that you're no longer afraid to say what you've done and would rather tell your tale to others on how you survived. Rori |

| 30 Seconds to Mars – Edge Of The Earth Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
Yeah, does take on an apocalyptic theme, but I don't think that's what it's primarily about... probably more along the lines of there are so many distractions in the world, like drugs, violence, sex, etc., that it's so easy to get thrust into. There are people that have already been absorbed in the chaos, in the lines "You wanna be the one..." and such and such. And through everything, everything you want to do won't just appear in front of you because you have all those obstacles. "It's not a matter of luck, it's just a matter of time." Completely sums it up. No matter what you do or how you do it, time will always be there. The chorus brings on the fact that you should be different and do whatever you feel like, and try to stay away from all the horrible crap. By standing out on the edge of the earth, diving into the center of fate, walking into the sight of the gun, and looking into the new future's face, you can catch a glimpse of what life will be like and how YOU can change it all. So yeah, being different with your choices is the main saying of the song. Rori |

| 30 Seconds to Mars – From Yesterday Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
Meh, my version of the second verse is: "On a mountain is a city, not of a gold, but a city Through the blood he can look See the life that he took From the accounted one he'll decide what is done With the innocent..." And then at the end: "From Yesterday it calls him But he doesn't want to read the message shown..." That's what I'm hearing. Jeez, I'm so mad that they didn't bother to put lyrics in their CD so we all wouldn't have to argue about this... The video doesn't make much sense, but if there is any connection, then, well we're all screwed! Because the video hardly makes sense at all... urgh... As for my thoughts by looking at both the song AND the video, I say it's about Siddhartha Guatama, mwahahahaha! Rori |
