| Judas Priest – Parental Guidance Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
This song was written in direct response to the "Washington wives", ie Tipper Gore and her cronies trying to get metal banned, but having to settle for getting Parental Guidance stickers on the albums instead. Rob is saying we dont need no Parental guidance, as in, we are smarter than you and you have no right to criticise us, you think you are better than us because of who you are, where you live and how you dress, but rockers judge people differently and dont need some asshole politicians old frigid wife with her knickers in a twist telling us whats good for us so fuck off!, but the priest do it in style by laughing off their demands rather than giving them another excuse to attack. Hence continuing to be the true "Defenders of the faith" |

| Judas Priest – Dreamer Deceiver Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| At the very end of "dreamer deceivers" James Vance VS. Judas Priest, the documentary about the court case in Reno, which you can find on google video, Rob reads out the lyrics as it was one of James Vance's favourites, as he reads it out aloud he reflects that he himself doesnt really know what it is about and then goes on to say its probably about being abducted by aliens or something, science fiction has often been used as subject matter for Priest throughout their career, as beautiful and poignant as this song is, its really just a song about little green men. | |
| Judas Priest – Cathedral Spires Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| Yes anyone who says the ripper era sucks doesnt know what they are talking about, one of my all time favourite Priest songs, I always thought it was about the end of the world brought about by mans own hostility, ie a nuclear war. | |
| Megadeth – Dawn Patrol Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
WRONG! This song is about the survivors of a nuclear war, living underground, the earth and its remaining people have succumed to radiation fallout, pointing out if nukes were ever used they would destroy everything not just "the enemy" |

| Skid Row – 18 And Life Lyrics | 19 years ago |

I SHOULD ALSO POINT OUT AT THE TIME OF KASSO'S ARREST AMERICA WAS IN THE GRIP OF A SATANIC PANIC, DURING WHICH EVERY PERSON THAT COMMITED ANY SORT OF CRIME AND ALSO ENJOYED HEAVY METAL WAS PORTRAYED IN THE MEDIA AS BEING LED TO EVIL BY WHATEVER BAND THEY WERE PICKING ON AT THE TIME. OZZY OSBOURNE, JUDAS PRIEST AND ACDC WERE ALL SINGLED OUT FOR THEIR "EVIL" INFLUENCE ON TEENAGERS (KASSO WAS WEARING A HIGHWAY TO HELL ACDC T-SHIRT AT THE TIME OF HIS ARREST, A FACT THE MEDIA SOON EXPLOITED TO THEIR OWN SENSATIONALIST ENDS). BY ADDRESING THE ISSUE OF DISENCHANTED YOUTH IN THIS SONG SKID ROW CLEVERLY POINTED OUT TO THE WORLD, KIDS WERE MORE LIKELY TO GO BAD DUE TO A POOR UPBRINGING RATHER THAN THE TYPE OF MUSIC THEY WERE LISTENING TO WHILST ALSO AT THE SAME TIME STANDING UP FOR THEIR PEERS AND HEROES (SUCH AS JUDAS PRIEST) THAT HAD EXPERIENCED THESE SORT OF WITCH-HUNTS IN THE MEDIA. FOR THIS WE SALUTE YOU! |

| Skid Row – 18 And Life Lyrics | 19 years ago |

THIS SONG IS LOOSELY BASED ON TEEN KILLER "THE ACID KING" RICKY KASSO, INSTEAD OF KILLING HIS FRIEND WITH A KNIFE LIKE IN REAL LIFE, IN THE SONG HE SHOOTS HIM. THE SONG ILLUSTRATES THAT ANY KID BROUGHT UP IN A VIOLENT OR UNCARING ENVIRONMENT CAN MAKE BAD DECISIONS AND END UP IN JAIL, THE REAL LIFE RICKY KASSO COMMITED SUICIDE BEFORE HIS TRIAL SHORTLY AFTER BEING JAILED. ULTIMATELY IT IS SAYING KIDS USUALLY GO BAD FOR A REASON, A POPULAR THEME FOR SKID ROWS MUSIC IS HOW YOUNG PEOPLE AND THEIR SENSE OF BRAVADO ARE OFTEN BERATED OR MISUNDERSTOOD ALIENATING THEM FROM SOCIETY AS A WHOLE. AND TO SETTLE YOUR ARGUMENT YES THIS IS ONE OF THE GREATEST ROCK SONGS EVER WRITTEN WITH INTELLIGENCE AND TRUE FEELING BY A TRULY GREAT BAND. THIS ALBUM IS ESSENTIAL FOR ANY REAL ROCKER REUB |
