I saw an interview with katy, and she said that this song is about a girl who is in a relationship with someone new, but all she can think of is her ex-boyfriend. And so she compares everyone else to him but nobody is comparable to him because he is the "ripest apple", the "perfection". The girl just wants to turn back time, she regrets the break up and she wants to get back with her ex, but he is moving on and so he tells her to move on, too. And so she is trying to find someone new but everytime she is with someone new she is thinking of her ex. So secong best is all she will know because he was the best. Great song! One of my favourite love songs. |

I really enjoy listening to that song I think it´s about that girl who´s falling for that guy. She really likes him and maybe he likes her, too. But not that way she does. They can talk about anything, they don´t act on their age, they play around and they flirt and stuff like that... He kissed her and they danced under stars or something like that, but it never really came to a relationship and it depends on him. She realizes that it´s useless and disappointing, so she decides to forget him and to say goodbye. Can´t you just let me be ? I think it means that he still wants to be with her as a friend or that maybe he can´t stand off and he doesn´t stop flirting and taunting... It´s an amazing song and that´s what I think about it...:) |

I really like this song I think it´s about this girl trying to save a friendship with a really good friend and the friend just doesn´t care anymore and left it all up to her and she´s scared to lose this person... But it also could be about a girl trying to save a relationship. Maybe the boy is falling out of love or things has changed and they will probably break up. He left it all up to her and said that she should try to save them because he is already unable to do things right... Maybe he´s falling out of love and she can´t understand it... |

But I think your friend is wrong cause Taylor says in the song "Doesn't he know that I've had him memorized for so long" and "He swears, as he runs his fingers through his hair I'm laughing 'cause I hope he's wrong" So I think it´s about this girl, her best friend is this guy who swears he´ll never fall in love and she is so totally in love with him. And you´re right, I think ;) Your friend is totally wrong about that song....because why should the girl in the song sing about her feelings for him, when she doesn´t love him?? That would be weird, right ? Maybe she has already a boyfriend but actually she loves her best friend and so she can´t tell or maybe she doesn´t want to destroy the friendship... ;) cu |

I really love this song and I think it means that he tried everything to help her and that he really cared about her, he was worried about her and maybe she didn´t notice that he tried to help fixing her life or maybe she didn´t want his help. He was so in love with her and he couldn´t watch her going under in her problems. So he tried to be there for her and he tried to show that he cares, but in the end she broke his heart and he realized that she is the only one who can fix her life... He tried to be her protector because he always was there for her but she just didn´t get that fact... |

I think this song is about a guy who has this new g/f and his old g/f has a new b/f. His Ex-Girlfriend calls him and shows him that she still cares and that he´s still one of her closest friends , he´s still in her heart... But this guy likes his new g/f and although he has still his ex-g/f on his mind he doesn´t want to break up with his new one. This song is so emotional and you can totally relate to it. I think that the song is about a girl who is in love with a boy, but he doesn´t love her the way she loves him and she totally knows that, but she can´t see anyone when he´s with her and she´s addicted and his love is like a sin . Her friends told her that he´s untrue or that he´s not the right person but she couldn´t listen because at this time she didn´t want to hear the opinion of her friends. The boy was so nice and lovely to her at the beginning but then he became something she has never thought of. And at the end he broke her heart. But I think this song could be about losing your virginity. Because after that some girls feel really lost and empty. And "you, your hands in your jeans, were you waiting for me?" sounds like he always had just this thought, that he just wanted to sleep with her. And maybe she thought trhat she was ready but later she found out that it was one big mistake and she regrets everything. "the rush, so intoxicated, I look back and I hated, that I couldn't tell." I think it could mean that she was too blind to see that he didn´t love her. And she did everything for him, but he never really cared. |

I can relate to it cause there was this boy and I really liked him and I did everything for him just to reach his heart. But he seemed to never really listen and to never really care. He was so cold and although he said that he´d love me, he wasn´t true I think this song is about a girl who is in love or maybe was in love with a boy who has never really cared. She always sat waiting for that special day and she waited for so long that he´d say the right words to make her happy, to make her feel that this could be something. But no matter what she was saying, no matter what she was doing, it was never enaugh and he always kept his feelings to his heart, but she couldn´t see through. She was there, she was always there and was in love with him But this is just my opinion... I just love this song |
