My opinion on this song is based on some personal encounters 'Underneath her skin and jewellery, Hidden in her words and eyes' I believe that she is lying about (possibly) money. She wears hip clothes and has the cool/new stuff that's 'in'. She lies to impress. 'Is a wall that's cold and ugly And she's scared as hell.' She knows how 'rich' she is personally and she knows that she's a fake. She 'scared as hell' because she's getting attached to someone and doesn't want him/her to find out. 'Trembling at the thought of feeling.' Once again, she is scared to get feelings for this person. In other words, they're not just 'status friends' 'Wide awake and keeping distance.' She's conscious of what she's telling people and making she can back everything up. 'Nothing seems to penetrate her' No matter how much she denies she has these feelings, she knows that she won't be able to believe this lie. *my 2 cents* |
