| I like this song because it appeals to thier audience, since retirement is something that most of us do dream about to a certain extent; but it also applies to the being in a band and "leaving the party in style" - knowing when to quit, basically. | |

| "I lived under her window" - Could that be a reference to Romeo and Juliet? It is after all a love song (of sorts). | |

well, i started off reading everyone else's comments, but there were way too many of them, so I'm not sure if any one else has put this or not, but to me, this song is about other people's expectations of you, and how difficult it can be to live up to these expectations. The fact that the patient's father wanted him to lead the black parade suggests that his father wanted the best for him, and this is his way of telling his father that although he will find it difficult, he will "lead the black parade" (which, to me, is a metaphor for anyone who's ever been rejected or let down), and in doing this he will honour his father's memory, even if his peirs think it's a bad idea, and even if it does mean he's going to have to "show my scar"-let other people see his weaknesses. you might disagree, but don't have a go at me please, cause it's just an opinion. :-) |
