| The Flaming Lips – My Cosmic Autumn Rebellion (The Inner Life as Blazing Shield of Defiance and Optimism as Celestial Spear of Action) Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| Adding on to what Hybrination said and ignoring everyone else (because I'm lazy), I also think that it has to do with sticking around and being loyal- toughing out the harsh times. It's about a person who has refused to be a fair-weather friend...or rather, fair-weather bird, as it be. | |
| The Flaming Lips – The Spark That Bled Lyrics | 17 years ago |

That's one interesting theory you got there, cojabr. One question: what caused his pimple-popping expedition to create such an extraordinary reaction? ...cause when I pop MY pimples... |

| Sean Kingston – Beautiful Girls Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
I generally LOATHE the music on the "up-to-date" mainstream radio stations. I do, however, listen to this song. The lyrics are fairly retarded and lack any depth at all..but most lyrics on the radio are like that. It's just a simple song. I think what made me actually find it tolerable is that it brought back the 50s-esque sound and beats from the do-wop genre. I have, embarrassingly enough, been known to boogie on down to the sounds of Frankie Lymon. Only after some Refused or Deftones, of course. :) PS. I greatly appologize for using the phrase "boogie on down". I won't do it again. I promise. |

| Elliott Smith – Bled White Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
My interpretation is that he is a "color reporter"- someone who thrives on color, and yet he's in a city "bled white"- a city void of color, the thing he needs to flourish. Basically he's bored or uneasy about the dismal, uninteresting world surrounding him. The lines "Because I'll have to be high to drag the sunset down/And paint this paling town" suggest that he is going to try and bring life back into the town. How is debatable. His being "high" could either mean being happy and above all the sad, disappointing souls of the city, or it could simply mean high on some form of drug. By Elliott's track record, I would assume the latter, but the lines "I'm never going to become what you became/Don't you dare disturb me" hint that Elliott meant that he is going to try and figuratively be "above" someone or some people. Not Elliott's best, however that doesn't say much as even Elliott's poorest songs are better than most other artists and moving in some way. Seems he tried to create a slightly more upbeat one here. It worked but..I don't know. I kinda prefer the slower tempo for Elliott. |

| Deftones – Digital Bath Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| Pretty much every Deftones song makes me want sex. And that's really all I think about when I listen to them. Am I alone in this? My boyfriend thinks I'm crazy. [though I'm sure it doesn't really bother him all too much] | |
| Graham Coxon – You & I Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| ?. I don't see how it could be about his daughter.. | |
| Graham Coxon – Song For The Sick Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| Haha. Kinda funny how bad the lyrics are. I'm pretty sure that's on purpose though... I hope? | |
| Eels – Cancer For The Cure Lyrics | 18 years ago |

I THOUGHT I heard my name in this song. **instantly loves it** |

| Devendra Banhart – I Feel Just Like a Child Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
im not so sure it's really about him wanting to dismiss responsibilities or anything "Peter Pan Syndrome"-like. i think he's saying that people make him feel like a child, because of his innocence and his attitude toward the world. at a glance my first assumption would be all of yours assumptions, that he's just plane old childish. but when you look at the lines "i need you to please explain the war" and especially "see i was born thinking all under the sky/didn't belong to a couple of white guys" you might realize that this is about more than just trying to escape responsibilities. In his realization of the world's downfalls, Devendra has realized his child-like naivety. Or, to put a different spin on it, he feels like the people telling him all this crap are talking down to him just "like a child". However, Devendra refuses to change his positive, hopeful outlook on the world and so 'from his cave to his grave, I guess he'll always be a child'. |

| Badly Drawn Boy – River-Sea-Ocean Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| Nah. I think it's way better that not many people know them. | |
| Kings of Leon – The Bucket Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
I agree with goldenfallinghard for the most part. Too lazy to read the rest of the posts, but I think the line "You kick the bucket, I'll swing my legs" could mean something along the lines of "you're killing me [metaphorically], but I'm letting you do it." The guy is standing on the bucket with the noose around his neck, and his friend will kick the bucket out from his feet for him. It's interesting that they use the phrase "kick the bucket", as the person who kicks the bucket is usually implied to be the on who dies. |

| Regina Spektor – Ode to Divorce Lyrics | 18 years ago |

Even in it's beauty I can't listen to this song. Or, maybe BECAUSE of it's beauty I can't listen to this song.. |
|
| Regina Spektor – Secret Stash (No One) Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
It's about being prepared for a let down, IMO. People can tell you whatever they want to, and whether or not you believe them you'll still have a "small stash of cash" saved for that "rainy day" when you realize it wasn't what you were led on to believe it was. Beautiful song, with a very powerful and true message. |

| Ben Folds – Bitches Ain't Shit (Dr. Dre cover) Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
I HOPE nobody actually thinks this was done in admiration of the song/artist. Very funny, however. Check out Alanis's cover of "My Humps", same concept, equally funny. |

| Regina Spektor – I Want to Sing Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| Regina's voice is so beautiful that instruments are unnecessary. I love this song. And I love singing this song. Even though I'm butchering it completely whenever I do. lol. | |
| Regina Spektor – Fidelity Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| This is just so.. un-Regina. Idk. Not enough piano and too much of a definite beat. But i guess you do what you gotta to get your name out there. If you guys like this, then listen to her other stuff. Much more original, and very beautiful. | |
| Head Automatica – Zack Morris Is My Hero Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| This is just a horrible song. The end. | |
| Graham Coxon – Bittersweet Bundle of Misery Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| This song just makes me happy. Even though it's supposed to be "bittersweet", I just get like.. elated whenever I hear this song. | |
| Grandaddy – Nature Anthem Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
This song is good depending on your mood. Like if you're kinda pissed off, you'll probably want to kill someone if you have to listen to this. But if you're in a good mood, well.. it IS an anthem. You GOTTA sing to it! |

| Elliott Smith – Son of Sam Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
This isn't much of a contribution, but I just realized Elliot uses almost the same phrase in this song as in In the Lost and Found. The words "lonely" leered" and "disappeared" are all together in the verse. Idk..I just found it interesting. "Kissed you quick Feeling weird Lonely leered and disappeared" -In the Lost and Found "I'm not uncomfortable, feeling weird lonely leered, options disappear " -Son of Sam |

| Dropkick Murphys – The Dirty Glass Lyrics | 18 years ago |

One of my favorite DKMs. But I agree with Dropkick Rover, it's certainly not the best. The female vocals are awesome, though. Very strong. Just awesome all the way around. |

| The Decemberists – O Valencia! Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
I was almost positive that this was about the city Valencia. The line "I’ll burn this whole city down" just confermed it to me, being that in Spanish culture there is a folktale, which is actually based on true events, in which the Romans burnt down the city of Valencia. The Valencians commited suicide before they were taken from their home by the Romans, which to me seemed like a very nice allusion from a love in which one person would rather die than be taken away from his home, his love.. But. Idk. I could be wrong. lol. Great song with ultimately the same meaning in everyone's eyes, details aside. Everyone can love it, no matter what the author's original intent was. THAT is what i love about the Decemberists. |

| The Concretes – New Friend Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
Obvious in it's meaning, sincere, easy to listen to.. Not the best, but still good. Definitely one that a lot of people can relate to. |
|
| Dropkick Murphys – Black Velvet Band Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| There's just something about hearing someone sing about your home. Love it. | |
| Devendra Banhart – Mama Wolf Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
Not sure exactly what this means. It just really depends on what he believes the wolf is symbollizing. "Mama Wolf"..I'm no expert on wolves..lol.. but assuming wolves are protective of their cubs, maybe he's talking about the vicousness this "Marie" will acquire to protect her children. ..Maybe? |

| Devendra Banhart – I Do Dig a Certain Girl Lyrics | 18 years ago |

Just a simple, beautiful love song. Perfect. |

Margaritte's moon.. is Like your light Like your voice Like your love Infront of you The sea of the Antilles Next to me, your (carisia sensilla) In order to live In order to enjoy In order to heal with you Infront of you The sea of the Antilles Next to me, your (carisia sensilla) In order to live In order to enjoy In order to heal with you --curtosy of my Spanish 4 Honors. :] |

| The Futureheads – Meantime Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| Love it. | |
| The Futureheads – Trying Not to Think About Time Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| I can relate to the song meaning (which needs no explaination, really).. but the song's not very well done, IMO. | |
| The Futureheads – Cabaret Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
No comments?! Crrrrazy. Well the connotation I get is that this is about the porno industry ("You can't ask me to pose like that", "What sells sells and we can never change that", etc) and how degrading and selfish of an industry it is ("Noone here cares if you lose anything, nevermind-your clothes in those photographs", "Don't you think it's sick it's pretty scary/When they ask her to pose like that"). The writer is obviously disgusted by the way they treat women, and who wouldnt be? Many of the girls who go into the industry are just young, naive, and sad. Just looking for acceptance. It's an industry for some, but not many. |
