| Soulfly – Eye for an Eye (feat. Dino Cazares & Burton C. Bell) Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
Can't you watch my back Can't you let my heart Believe what they have fired (?) I think that line in question is "Believe one day I'll fly" That's how it sounds to me at least. Anyways, pretty obvious meaning... karma... natural or imposed. What goes around comes around, eye for an eye. |

This song is definitely the first part, with Reflection being the second. It's about life as a child, as your disposition is defined. I can't really say what he meant with the lyrics, that's up to each to determine. To me, it's about having no care, watching time go by. Naturally, everybody learns things such as pride, ego, selfishness. Thinking the world revolves around them. This is part of most people's disposition. At the end of the song, it's meant to sound like a ball bouncing, as in a child playing. The second part, Reflection is about learning the truth and reflecting back on the past(obviously). The truth that life is amazing, that we all share this world. Simply amazing, every facet of life. It's saying to drop those bad habits of egotism, pride, and selfishness and live. Live as a good human before it's too late and you're dead. You don't want to reflect upon your life at the very end and realize how wrong you were. I think it explores the ideas of nirvana and qiyamat. The music is so trance like. These two songs are great on their own, together it's simply genius. |
