Theres one thing about radiohead songs. They could mean virtually anything. Only a few select people in the world ACTUALLY know what the songs mean and those people are the bands themselves. They are the modern Robert Frosts. They leave it up the the reader/ listener to interpret how they see the song as. So technically whatever you think... is correct. |

this song is bleak when you first listen to it. but my uncle who showed me this song explained it to me. hes great at getting the meanings behind songs. so i will try to relay the information he told me.
well at first you would think that this group is promoting suicide. its not that at all. its us who are promoting suicide. our lives have been spoiled so much that if we have to settle for less that we think that no one cares for us. there are clearly people who in worse conditions than the people who all they want to do is cut themselves until they bleed to death. and when he says "six fucking devils stepped up playing brave god." hes saying that people who claim to be 'fearless' and seem to lead a group of people, who i call lemmings because all they do is follow whoever seems cool at the moment, that they are persuaded so easily. yes he told them in the song that they should commit suicide but they fall so easily just like the youth. younger and younger kids get exposed to drugs. and its THEIR choice not anyone elses. they are killing themselves at such young ages.
basically in a shorter phrase, this song is about how stupid and the stupid choices that people make. and they dont even think about their consequenses. so think about your actions. you only get one life. |

i personally think that this song is about a person who has realized how much evil there is in the world and he wants to rid himself of it (suicide). the evil in the world has forced him to "say goodbye and dance with the devil tonight" thats jsut my thoughts though. |

i think that this song is a combinatino of all of the worlds crisis's as of now. such as the war efforts, global warming, people eating food until they burst and not sharing or world hunger in other words. i think that radiohead in general that they are realists and they want to bring attention the the bigger problems of the world and show that were so busy with everything that plagues us. we dont realize were destroying the only place we have to live and i think that radiohead wants to bring attention to that. |
