| on second thoughts its more like a mystical experience not necessarily influenced by a life threatening situation but rather induced by some experimentation with hallucinogenics ... | |

| well, first of all its a very catchy tune ... beautiful melody ... the song to me seems to be about an accident in a car. But whats with the names of all these people, which include celebrities and heroes of different countries and movements around the world ... is there something that links them together ... i think yes ... they are all close to the heart of the singer so when he is facing this life threatening situation in the car ... these people come to his mind ... and he feels that they are in the car with him ... | |

10-west's interpretation is plausible ... i like it ... but there is a contradiction in his interpretation ... i.e. should i rest for a while on the side - this cannot mean suicide ... as suicide is more like ending ones journey abrubtly before reaching ones destination ... it is permanent ... Robert Plant never wrote about suicide ... he knows there is no turning back on the 'run' ... when you have sold your soul to the devil, suicide is out of the question ... it is of no help ... as there is no escape ... i think he just wants to rest for a while, he's a bit weary of travelling on the highway to hell ... anyways it's beautiful ... the best poetry is where there is room for the reader or listener to fit into ... this one has a lot of room ... |

I was a bit surprised how no one noticed or commented on the lines throw me to the wolves because there's order in the pack throw me to the sky because i know i'm comming back i personally think that these lines are two of the best lines ever written in the western art history. they pack a universe of heart and soul in them. this is where the song transcends the human misery and rises to heaven like perfume from the heart of a white rose. he's saying that he prefers to leave the human race and join the wolves as there is unity and understanding among them. they dont kill each other. and we think that we are better than wolves. He thinks the wolves are better than humans ... if humans keep on fighting for nothing else but fighting's sake. Even the worst of animals kill only to survive or protect themselves ... and he's ready to embrace all hardships so that peace and truth may prevail when he says like the truest saint or messiah ... that what ever u do to me the truth wont die it will live on for ever ... throw me to the sky because i know i'm comin back ... wow ... im speechless, it always makes me cry ... bravo ! |

| Arcade Fire – Ocean of Noise Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| This song is more like a voice in an ocean of voilent noises that is calling for peace. Will it be lost in all the other voices and become part of the noise ... or will it be heard ... At least a few will hear it, just like the songwriter heard someone's voice ringing like a bell calling him towards peace ... it made him wonder if he had a choice ... to make a change ... and end the voilence. It led to him to ponder more deeply and ask difficult questions of himself ... eventually it shook him to the core of his soul ... and now he too screams just like the voice of this other person that "Its time we work it all out"... "its time to work it out" ... the change has begun ... this is the era of change ... we have a choice ... | |
