This song doesn't seem sweet at all, to me. It seems like he's making fun of love songs and all the ridiculous similes and metaphors people use for something that can sometimes be so foolish. My interpretation of this song is that it's supposed to be funny with a cynical edge. Even though I'm not typically into this kind of music, the lyrics won me over. |

I totally agree with you hunteriv. I too could never understand the lyrics but I definitley felt what they were trying to say. And now that I look at the lyrics of the song, they're just so perfect. The music by itself, without the lyrics, conveys the mood perfectly. Man, I must admit that it got me thinking of when I've "been there". It's perfect mopey-but-hopeful music. |

Yeah, I heard it was about a rape because, according to some legend, Iggy Pop once witnessed the rape of a prostitute (it may have been a gang bang) and it affected him so much that he wrote about it.
But I also heard it was about cunnulingus (sp?).
I always liked to think the song was about submission and giving someone control (probably sexual control) over you so you can lose yourself to your sensations and get all primitive, like an animal, just like any good bottom would like to be. Yes, S&M and I know its not very original to think that its about S&M but songs written about it are just so darn cool. You know it. |
