| I think that this song is referring to someone who lies to everyone around them just to twist situations and people to their own liking. The narrator can see right through this and is warning the person that it eventually they will lie so much that it will blow up in their face. | |

This song reminds me of being checked into the hospital for a long period of time. Sometimes you feel like all the doctors do is come in and check you over and then you are "long forgotten". Time also goes so slowly that it feels like you can "count" it. "Naked under the cover of night It's just a matter of time til I'm counted and measured and filed and then long forgotten Forgive my manner of speaking I know it's quick but the clock is still ticking" This verse reminds me of those stupid gown looking things that they make you wear when you get x-rays or something. And you are completely naked under it. In the chorus I think that the narrator is say that he does not want to be checked over anymore he just wants some company. I know my theory is a long shot but read the lyrics over with this in mind and it will make more sense. That is just what I think. |

I agree with djklompien. The first thing I thought of when I heard this song was that the narrator is cheating with a girl who already has a boyfriend. In the second verse he says: "I have no crime to keep a secret It was hers, it was not mine Well I may be a sinner, But it wasn't me this time" I think that he is trying to justify to himself that it was her to came onto him, so he held no fault. At the part where it says: "Well, listen to yourself There is a hemmorage in your mouth It won't stop bleeding" I think she has just "spilled the beans" to someone. Then he says: "Well, you may be the trigger I will hold the smoking gun You'll get away clean I'll keep your secrets til the grave has swallowed me" Though he knows that it was her who initiated it, he will take all the blame and tell no-one her secret. What ever it means I think it is a great song. |

This song in my opinion is about a guys who can't get into a serious relationship because he can't get past the "chase" part. This is like my theme song when it comes to relationships. I have had lots of relationships in my life but none of them get very far and get serious because I get bored once all the chasing is over. So, I end up breaking it off and I HATE it. I need to find a way to get past it. |

I am not sure but in the second verse it sounds like the narrator is cheating on his girl friend. It sounds like he is trying to justify it and is to chicken to come clean. At least that is what it sounds like to me. Great Song. |

I think this song is about old age, and what comes with it, i.e. grey hair, bent back, ect. The verse: "Everybody's youth is only what they make it Longer in the tooth, so why do people fake it? We'll never get it back again." Is expressing a regret about not living life to the fullest when the narrator was still physically able to. This verse could also be seen as a warning to not waste youth. 'Youth is wasted on the young' sorta thing. I think mainly that this song is told from the point of view of an elderly person. They are telling us what it is like to be close to death and they are saying "goodbye" in the process. |

I think this song is mean to be taken literally. Just as a humorous song. Maybe the phone part is reffering to the one call that people have a right to after they are arrested. It is obvious that at least one person got caught: "Inside the police car You tried to explain..." I know my phone idea may be a little far fetched but it was worth a shot. It's an awsome song, whatever it means. |

Once again, Zamrod has it nailed. It is about breaking off a relationship, and realalizing later what a stupid decision it really was. This is not BNL most popular song, but I think it is their best. Or at least the one with the best message. |

I think this song is about the narrator who was searching for musical inspiration in Memphis and ended up with a spiritual awakening. I think this because of all the reverences he makes to famous musicians and song writers. Especailly when he says: "W.C. Handy- won't you look down over me." He also makes refrence to praying, and towards the end of the song he says he is Cristian. Great song. |

I agree with gravity defiant. I also think it is about selling out to "the man". I get this from the lines: "I’m a walking advertisement For everything I never meant And everything I never meant to be" I am not saying that BNL necessarily has done that, I just think that is what this song is about. There is also a great fan video for this song, if you go to You Tube and search "Drill Team Are Men". It is four guys dancing to this song. Kinda like "Ok Go" style. |
