| Cobain or not, how could this song possibly be about any band 'selling out'. For god sake, Everclear did a Gap commercial. In every interview I've ever seen, they all seem to be enjoying their success. Technically if a band has ever sold you *anything* they have 'sold out' and Art knows this. This song is about taking advantage of people. It's that friend that is always reaching out to you... but is never there when you need them. They even realize that you won't stick around: "I turn, I reach for you; wanna touch our life before it fades" but they refuse to change in some neurotic attempt to bring you down with them. 'The Laughing World' are all the onlookers that know better than to be this guys friend. |
