first of all, this is an amazing song. i love cute is what we aim for, one of my all time favorite bands. and, i know how to play this on guitar. anyways, i think this song is about shaant's girlfriend who is stuck between him and another guy. "I am as he does" im your boyfriend, but he (other guy) is acting like he is. "You are as she was" (to the other guy) youre trying to impress her. "Cause conflict and make your top pick" pick who you want to be with. "Restitch my ripped jeans" broken hearts. "Sew them tight at the seams please" put me back together; pick me up. "I’ve got so many ripped knees" like hes saying, ive had my heart broken so many times, go ahead and do it again. "I’m selfish as selfish as comes You’re giving me a run for my money Honey" shes being selfish by trying to be with both guys and have it all. the rest is pretty much self explainable. and if youre really a CIWWAF fan then you know left side is your strong side cause thats where your heart is. thats just what i think about this song though. shaant has an amazing way with words. |

this song is soo amazing. im just learning to play it on guitar now. i saw CIWWAF live about two weeks ago on february 20th in pittsburgh. and shaant said that he wrote this after a conversation he had with his grandfather. he was also talking about how the decisions you make when youre young, like 16, 17, can affect your life for years to come. so i think that this song was about his grandfather telling him about a relationship where he didnt tell the girl how he truly felt -- "but never did I talk" and later regretted it and is warning shaant of the same thing. shaant realizes that he may be in the same situation but it wont work because she wants "to be dressed in poetry" and praised all the time. he just doesnt wanna end up like his grandfather; regretting that he didnt take the chance while he had it -- "and your body on my mattress is proof" shes right there but he cant manage to tell her his true feelings. "but do you think I am telling you the truth" maybe hes lying to her and telling her that he isnt in love with her when he really is. im not sure exactly, just a thought. shaant is an amazing writer though; everything he writes can usually be taken in a few different ways so you can never be too sure what he meant by it. |
