this song is about how hard it is when your in a long distance relationship. "i know it hurts to feel so all alone" maybe she is thinking about giving up but shes not the only one hurting, he is too so "we've gotta make this last." im away at uni and my girlfriend lived quite far away. this was kinda our song, whenever we felt far apart this kinda answered our problems and reminded us how much the wait was worth before we got to see each other again. shame it didnt work out in the end but this song is beautiful. long distance is hard but stick at it. |

i've seen wheatus a few times and met brendan a couple of times. on a tour the band got lost in amsterdam and went into a bar. some english guys were given them abuse and throwin peanuts and brendan, he asked "what are you guys, irish?" it didnt go down too well, and i think they took a kickin. oops. heh. thats how brendan told it on stage anyways. |

i reckon this song is about a failed relationship. "were not designed to be evergreens" is him saying they weren't gonna last forever. he questions "am i willing to wait here again? although im hungry and im tired." for me when you break up with someone, you don't sleep and you don't eat so he's asking is he gonna hang on to the fact that they may get back together and feel crappy holding on to what may be a lost cause, or move on. "another set back is another lesson learnt" is saying that at least they can learn from their mistakes. "there's still somthing of worth" means he realises that he is willing to hang on and then "the tree is willing to deliver despite initial years" could mean they get back together. although its hard and sometimes easier to let go, some things are worth holding on to. thats just how ive read it anyway. |
