omg when she says...
she make them feel things
she says "I can sing this song so blue
that you will cry in spite of you
it made me think she made this song specifically to make the listeners feel sad, proving the point of blues. I think its sort of a tribute to the original lady blues singers...but i don't know if i'm right. Anyway, this song is one of the most beautiful songs i've ever heard...so gorgeous and tragic. |

I think this song may be about someone who has gone insance over a doomed love.
Because the lines:
"I'm not here, not anymore
I've gone away"
....sort of indicate that this person is not there "mentally" anymore. And when they say "I'm in love with your daughter" it seems like the person is thinking back to his/her hurtful past, remembering what put him in the place he is now. And as someone mentioned about the sweeping, it does make me think he is in some sort of mental insitute watching the janitorial staff.
But this song definetly makes me think of someone scorned who has gone crazy. |

Gorgeous, sad; empowering song. Hands down one of my favorite songs of all-time. It seems like she gets so worked up over her status in the world and making herself matter that its almost depressing when she bellows "thirty two's still goddamn number" I love it. Regina Spektor is a genius. |

this song is song really powerful, which gets the point across that much more. I just love this song, the meaning is pretty obvious. She talks of how she never needed a man to make her happy, but she's finally found "the right man", and she wants to need him, she wants him to make her happy. I double love this song! |

First of all, this is one of the best songs i've ever heard!
Listening to the words, it seems that a couple has broken up, and the guy has completely shut off his heart to his ex. Its like they can't be friends, he just can't have any feelings for him/her, because he's been hurt, and he needs to go away for a while, maybe forever. I don't know if im right, but doesn't matter, this song is awesomelicious! :) |
