the translations pretty literal, but is it weird when i hear "tiny dancer" to think of a little doll or an exotic dancer of sorts. Is this girl his little doll? She says nothing while they're in bed. I find that interesting and I wonder why she's so quiet. maybe she isnt in love with him, and he is blindly in love with her. In his desperation he begs her to chase the ghosts and sins away from him. This album makes me think indefinitely. i love it. |

i love this song. i love how the man repeats his words over and over and is trying to justify his overdose. I used this because she didnt want me, because i believe she wanted me for a second and i wanted it to be real. So he drugs up on everything he can think of, so that in his mind, he'll believe that she is his. But what does Morpheus tie into this? Hurt has alot of allusions in their writing. not to mention: drugs(of any kind) are a way to kill boredom. The way he repeats himself though kinda mimicks the way a person responds when they're on something. hes begging for attention. and you can tell towards the end, his voice becomes weaker and more stressed. He's breaking down. |

i know there's probably one thousand other responses to the song but this is one that has affected me in the strangest ways. maybe it's about nothing at all. i'm not much of a radiohead junkie and i couldnt even tell you who the lead singer but i think this is a song about tyranny that can be as simple as a kindergarten classroom where one kid steals all the others lunch money, and coerces the others to be on his side, and do his dirty work, to corrupt politicians with their dirty 'pay rolls' He's pointing out pieces of human beings that really wouldn't bother anyone. it's a hair cut. it's a way that man chooses to hum. how does that effect a tyranny? well the man is viewed as crazy, and the girl is defying authority. these people cannot be part of a 'perfect' society. kinda hitler-esque isn't it? strange. but amazing. |

i haven't listened to much of the deftones, and honestly, i looked up the song because i think maynard is a great vocalist. i love this song. it's chilling. Look beneath the lines of the song. Maynard is not Paris Hilton. He writes more complex. What kind of ride is it? Are they even in a car? It could be about a sado-masochistic relationship where the one person is completely in control, they are the driver, and the other is just helpless in the backseat. His life is in the ride, that is controlled by his lover, and he can only let go if the ride goes faster and the windows are rolled down. He's obviously not objective to this kind of relationship. Note: the only way that he can LIVE is if his sins are in public view. Consider that. |
