I see two possible meanings to this song. 1. He sees her not really care, so he does kind of a "Okay, I'm going to leave now. Don't you see that I'm leaving? I'm walking toward the door..." type of thing, because he feels so much for her, he wants her to care too. 2. Someone talking to someone that's in a coma that doesn't look like they'll pull out of it. He doesn't want to believe, and it's tearing him up inside. He questions his beliefs, and wants to do anything to be with the person again, but realizes he needs to move on. He accepts the inevitable, and wants to make something of it "dearly departed, now that you've started, I'm gonna finish it." Oh yeah, and the song title is spelled wrong XP |

Train has to be one of my favorite bands if not my favorite. They have gems like this one all over the place, and it's a shame so many people only know Drops of Jupiter, and maybe, MAYBE Calling All Angels and When I Look to the Sky. To me this song is about exactly the situation I'm in. Guy and a girl, used to be friends, maybe even good friends. The guy started to like the girl as more than a friend, a lot more. So he started acting really weird. Not like he started flirting with her more or something like that, but he talked to her less. Maybe even got mean. Now they aren't anything. They aren't friends anymore, and they don't talk. The guy can't stop thinking about her. He misses her, he wants her back in his life, just to have things the way they used to be. He tells her this, even though they both "know" it won't work. He says he's changed, he says he's better. He wants his life back on track, and he thinks to himself, and hopes she'll come back. When he left, he didn't really want to leave in the first place. He wanted her to stop him, to save him in a sense. He always thought she would. She didn't. Now all he can do is try to change, try to go back to the way things were, and hope she'll forgive him and do the same. |

I agree with UCLA about the meaning, but not the exposure issues. Sure there are going to be people that like it that completely misconstrue the meaning, but there are going to be people that feel the same way you do about the song and about who they think of when they listen to the song that wouldn't have heard it otherwise. I heard this song on the radio at work, and looked it up. I'm so glad I did. I wish I could sing, because I'd like to sing this to..."her." But I don't think I can sing. And unfortunately she won't even talk to me anymore. I fell too hard, too fast, and I pushed her away. I'd still sing it to her if I could sing, even though it wouldn't make her feel any different. |

I've heard this song plenty of times before, and I always thought it was okay. It plays in the store I work at sometimes, and I always thought it was okay. Until recently. About a week ago I basically poured my heart out to this one girl, something I had never done before. She basically acted like I hadn't said anything. I asked her what I do from here, because I didn't know. She said she still wanted to be friends. I didn't believe her. I told her there was a difference between a friend and an acquaintance. Basically, I put the ball in her court as to whether or not she actually wants to be my friend. A couple days ago at work, it was really slow, so it was quiet. I was listening to the music they play, and this song came on. I bought it that night, and have been listening to it almost nonstop ever since. It's sad one way of thinking about it, but at the same time I feel like it's making me stronger, making me able to walk away. Short Version: Really good song. |

No comments on this one yet? I got this CD after hearing Lupe in songs like Touch the Sky with KanYe and Catch me I'm Ballin' on NBA 2k7, and I've wandered my way into this song. I couldn't tell you exactly what it means, but as close as I am to a mental breakdown, this song makes me feel like I can take on the whole world. It may not be as well known as Kick, Push, but this song deserves some MAJOR credit. |
