It's Stoner Rock, but Stoner heavily influenced Doom. I love their sound... even when you listen to something that sounds grungy like Kyuss or hell, Nirvana this sounds so fucking heavy. |

I think Thong Song is about the stereotypical redneck kind of guy that Kurt Cobain hated, but could also just be describing a rocker/stoner who doesn't care. (Well, there's long hair, dumb, doesn't care, so it seems like it can be either.)
Also, I love the irony/hypocritic stuff going on with the lyric "I hate slow songs" being in the slowest song on the album. |

Well it obviously is about a man with... undersized... genitalia, who sees no action, (see 'oh he's breathin', 'lonely', most of the lyrics) but I think it could metaphorically have other meanings woven into it. Maybe something like Silver Headed Monk said about someone who feels small or insignificant.
But then again, it's Kyuss, and was probably written when high. |
